Which Fuel For Isf
Shaunomercy replied to jetskidia's topic in Lexus F Club - Lexus IS-F / GS-F / RC-F Club
The best extra additive I've found and is well respected in the motoring industry is miller's. Try a bottle of miller's power eco. A bottle does 10 tanks. And you will notice the difference nigh on immediately once it's made its way thru the fuel system. It bloody stinks tho so don't get it on your hands and bag the bottle. Which Fuel For Isf
Shaunomercy replied to jetskidia's topic in Lexus F Club - Lexus IS-F / GS-F / RC-F Club
The dreaded fuel debate... These so called super fuels don't clean the carbon out from behind the valves on direct injection engines for starters, so the high end additives package is wasted there. As for supermarket fuel. All fuel has to meet the bsi en standard in Europe. Supermarket fuel does have an additives package. Near where I live, I've got a Sainsbury's petrol station. That station gets 3-4 deliveries a week, such is the turn over of fuel. Your always queuing for fuel. Important ? Very The fuel is barely in the petrol station tanks 2 days before replenishment. So far less chance of condensation and water contamination, and stale fuel. Then take a good look at your branded Superfuel station and in particular the higher octane pumps. You won't see a queue for the super fuel at the prices they charge. So you could be well purchasing fuel that's been stood in the forecourt tanks a month or 2 or maybe more as the demand for it is small so turnover and replenishment is far less frequent. And then there is the question of how much octane the fuel has lost because it's been stood in a forecourt tank for how long ??? It's really worth thinking about... !!! Then there is the diesel Superfuels... An even bigger con. The simple reason people have so much grief with their diesels is incorrect use of the car, and not driving them hard to clear the filters. Do you think your local haulage firm buys top end diesel ? Or is it the cheapest diesel he can buy in bulk ? Funny how you don't see **** loads of hgvs daily stuck at the side of the motorway with the cab tilted. They have adblu additives and filters. But the engines working hard all the time. It's really worth thinking about. !!! Sent from my Pixel 2 XL using Tapatalk -
A high street retailer I used to carry for used to down plate their 44 Tonner's down to 28 or 31 ton... Result was roadtax for a 14litre truck running 24/7 was £250 quid a year !!! Then they crucify cars and the luxury tax is just a further insult. Sent from my Pixel 2 XL using Tapatalk

I think another big factor with the LC is the luxury car road tax. I think it has increased the depreciation on luxury cars quite alot more and dealers are certainly having to factor this in when selling cars Sent from my Pixel 2 XL using Tapatalk

A little late to the thread but...audio. I touched on this in another thread. The mL is very transparent. Feed it a crap source signal and the music will be flat. However feed it a decent source and it will blow you away and give you goose bumps. It's not a bass heavy system. It's audiophile. With the best sources like dvd audio it will pick out the detail like a plectrum going over the strings on a classical guitar. The pioneer based system is punchy, dynamic and I suppose the easiest way of describing it is a ghetto blaster type of sound. That's not meant to be harsh. Its certainly more musical with lesser quality sound sources. As for pulling out the nuances in the music it doesn't touch the mL. The other point personally for me with the mL, is I don't feel the need to have the music blaring loud. I listen to the music like I would in a demo room at my local audiophile music shop. Enjoying the detail, timbre etc. Sent from my Pixel 2 XL using Tapatalk

The LC F speculation thread

Turbos or superchargers ? Ford released this earlier today... The new Shelby gt500 https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=835849120083997&id=20901384568 Still want turbos ??? That sounds nearly as good as the LFA Sent from my Pixel 2 XL using Tapatalk -
The LC F speculation thread
Shaunomercy replied to B1RMA's topic in Lexus F Club - Lexus IS-F / GS-F / RC-F Club
I only hope they don't go down the turbo path. A supercharged engine sounds far better and has a far better throttle response particularly when your balancing the car on the throttle.. Plus going turbo, follows exactly what the Germans are doing, so the engine no longer differentiates lexus. So why not buy German then ? Plus even with their trick exhaust valves etc they sound crap. Compare a V8 m3 to the turbocharged version, Audi RS4 V8 verses the turbo V6. Merc C63 V8 against the turbo V8. M5 V10 Vs M5 V8 turbo.... All sound poor compared to their predecessors. Then there is the new Electric turbos... Something else to go wrong. I can see Lexus's hard earned reliability record dropping down the JD power rankings to where the Germans are. EGR Valves

Is the egr valve still working ? I had a zaffira b turbo diesel. When the egr failed, I had no boost till around 2500 and then it was off on full boost. Are you driving like a pensioner ? That's not meant to read as a may comment. The problem with these modern diesels is they have to be thrashed all the time or live on motorways. Drive them gently and they start getting blocked filters. Drive them harsh, fuel economy drops, so you may as well have a petrol, the torque shreds your tyres, and there are the dreaded dual mass flywheels to contend with. -
To be fair juice drinker, even when my Passat was under warranty, my local indi serviced it. I don't like franchise dealers at all. And I don't believe a dealer stamp actually makes negligible difference to the price when you sell. My bone of contention with them is they charge exorbitant hourly rates, but the guy on the spanners is not far off the basic minimum wage. If the guy was paid a decent hrly wage of 20-30 quid an hr I'd find it more palatable. But your paying for a pretty lady to guide you to a seat and a posh glass showroom and a coffee. But the other issue I have with franchises is that the technicians are nothing but fitters. The majority are not true mechanics. If the computer doesn't tell them what's wrong they don't have a clue. Years ago I had a pos zaffira b turbo diesel. Had nothing but grief with it. On the last issue I had with it, the engine was chattering. The top tech ended up dealing with it and he didn't have a clue. They threw an induction manifold at it, new airflow meter, then a turbo. At that point I asked if they new what they were doing because turbos work or they don't and it was deliverering boost. In the end they took the top off engine and found a broken rocker arm. But then they were going to fit the original timing belt they had removed until I went ballistic at them. Thankfully it was all under warranty. My local indi in comparison had the haldex diff off the car and opened up to see if they could repair or get it repaired. Sadly the bearing had gone between the cogs, cracked the diff case and was a complete wreck inside. They then spent a week searching all their trusted suppliers looking for a second hand unit, but no success. They were a few on eBay, in Germany for about 1500 but we both agreed that as it wasn't one of their trusted suppliers, it was better to go for a new unit with warranty. Whilst the Lexus stamp is nice to have, I trust my local indi far more. Sent from my Pixel 2 XL using Tapatalk

To be fair I've never known a franchise dealer service cars on a Saturday !! Parts dept are generally open to mid day but that's it. As for time windows on servicing cars... They only need a nut to shear or find something unexpected and the timed slot goes out the window. I never use a franchise dealer. I have my trusted independent that's local enough to walk to. They drop the car off when they are done and I drive down and pay them for it. I work nights, so it's a big help to me, but I've used them since 2001. They trust me and I trust them. And when they drop your car off with nearly a 4k bill outstanding and tell you to try the car and come down the following week to pay. That says alot about the relationship I have with my indi. And no it wasn't the Lexus that landed me that bill. It was my Passat alltrack that lunched it's haldex 4wd. A bearing failed at 39000 mile !!! The new part was 3400 quid.. so much for famed VW reliability.. Sent from my Pixel 2 XL using Tapatalk

With winter beginning to knock on the door, and gritters doing the rounds I thought it time to address the alloys on the lexus. We all know the Lexus alloys are not brilliant at resisting oxidisation and rock salt is a real problem to them. So after giving the is250c a hand wash and letting it dry. I have given the alloys a coat of acf50. It's available online and places like halfrauds. It's used in the aviation industry. It's an anti corrosion fluid. A lot of motorcyclists use this to protect the metalwork during the winter months, myself included to protect the metal work from furing up with corrosion. If you decide to use this to protect your alloys over the winter months and a can will last you a good few years please take note. SPRAY ONTO A RAG AND WIPE THE ALLOYS. DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES SPRAY IT ONTO THE ALLOYS IF THE ARE FITTED ON THE CAR. YOU WILL CONTAMINATE THE BRAKES AND NOT HAVE ANY BRAKES. IN SHORT KEEP IT AWAY FROM BRAKES, DISKS, CALIPERS. KEEP IT OFF THE TIRES TOO. Your alloys will over the winter months look mucky but no need to worry. If you wash them with a wash n wax, snow foam give them another wipe down with the acf50. Another good place to wipe is the inside of the wheel arches where the metal finishes. I've enclosed a link to the manufacturer. I highly recommend it. It's really good stuff. www.acf-50.co.uk Sent from my Pixel 2 XL using Tapatalk

Is250 remap
Shaunomercy replied to peachy's topic in Lexus IS 250 / Lexus IS 250C Club / Lexus IS 220D & IS 200D Club
To be honest, in view of the remap hp claims, I think I'd be giving him a wide birth and not having exhaust done there either. When people make claims like that on a naturally aspirated engine, then I'd be thinking he is trying to have me for a fool.. Sent from my Pixel 2 XL using Tapatalk -
No James. Just zero feel. In fact I'd say I've more feel through the seat and steering wheel of my 11 car car transporter. The Chinese Ditch finders on the rear are positively scary. On a slightly greasy roundabout even under light acceleration, had a big sideways moment and as I counter steered the car electronics intervened to halt the slide. Speed under 20 mph. Been watching this with great interest as it's reported that flights are grounded again this evening... Gutted for the people that are going away or going home.. A bit of fun now...[emoji848] Who is responsible for it. Please feel free to be as creative as UK government and press An agrieved X employee...? Russian interference ? Putin sat behind his desk with remote control handset ? Junker.. EU president. He has publicly said flights will be grounded if we leave without a deal... And no deal planning has been authorised..a credible threat made..... Sent from my Pixel 2 XL using Tapatalk

Thx guys. I just hope the khumo on the 250c work as well as they did on the mx5. The feel of grip and feel they gave on the mx5 was akin to the feel a motorcycle gives its rider.. If you've been a biker or racer then you will know what I mean. Not that Intend to throw nearly 2 ton of grand tourer about, but actually having some feed back from the steering and seat of the pants is really needed. Sent from my Pixel 2 XL using Tapatalk

Has anybody fitted khumo ku39 ecsta on their Lexus is ? These tires have a huge fan base with the mx5 community, and indeed I had them on my mx5. They are brilliant on the Mx. But the is250c isn't far off twice the weight of an mx5 !!. Front Michelins not far off done now and tramline really badly. and I want the Chinese Ditch finders taken off the rear at same time as I've no feel to what the rear of the car is doing. No sensation of grip. And I always keep tires matched. Don't like mixed tires for the simple reason of different compounds grip wise and different tires displace different rates of water. So when one tires beginning to aquaplane, the other may still be offering full grip. So in the near future I'm looking at replacing all 4 in one hit. [emoji849] Thoughts/ personal experience on the khumo please Or any other recommendations that are not silly money Thx Paul Sent from my Pixel 2 XL using Tapatalk

I wouldn't go to the hassle and expense, particularly if you are in the UK as dab in the UK is shockingly bad and the continual dropouts depending on your area will drive you nuts. Wife has given up with dab and listens to FM. I stream internet radio from my mobile. My is250c has the dab module fitted to the ML sound system. It's reception is about as good as the VW Passat we have. I wouldn't recommend throwing your hard earned cash at it. Better results can be had streaming from your mobile.
