Fargo, what made you choose Ace Cafe tonight then? Is there a Jap nite or something? I used to go last Weds of every month in my previous Sax. (yes-max power night, I admit) but is a lively night. I have a few friends from the saxosportsclub forum i meet. I will be going down on Weds 26 May if initerested. I work in wembley and will be going after work. Kavey, besides that "eek". I would like to know your opinions on Japanese European motors, I work up in Kingsbury nd intend to visit/use them as and when needed for my servicxing/parts. So the service centre is off the a5? and the parts are in the Kingsbury trading estate, church lane? How are they for supply of altezza service parts?

maneesh, the cars are 2 litre,as a 318 and even the 316i is a 1900 engine. This is because the 4 cylinder engines are 1900cc as standard, but they didnt want to drop the traditional marques of the 316 and 318 etc, as they have history/heritage.

a big negative. On turning in on a corner, the "BMW Boat" felt heavy and didnt turn in sharp. THE ALTEZZA I HAVE--------TURN THAT WHEEL, THE FRONT DIGS IN AND DIRECTION CHANGES SO QUICK-IT IS FUN! To be honest, I felt more of a "prestige" and higher status when driving the beemer than I do the Altezza to be honest (Wierd-cant explain that one) But yes, it is now a mass produced, over supplied car, and thus residuals are going to plummet, you see one everywhere. Luckily I got out quick and didnt lose too much cash. I think the new 3 series is out 2005, and prices will further plummet again with oversuply and everyone (maybe) wanting the new shape.

I have previous for owning one. I liked it, but it lacked a little...............something, and then I bought the IS200. Not looking back! The E46 shape is nice to look at, reliable, the badge leads reputation as a leading MARQUE, I preferred the interior, but it was uncomfortable on long journeys.....and "I could get a Haynes manual to do work myself, wish I could get one for the IS200/Altezza." That is the most important factor! (so a let down on that aspect).

I went to complete only my second full tank today, rather than partial tank at a time. Most pumps I use tend to cut off with the safety valve instilled in the petrol pump during all parts of the filling process as the litres fill up. This is hard to explain, but obvoiously on a UK car the petrol should constantly flow and then the shut off valve in the petrol pump should kick in when it is clear through back pressure that the car tank is full etc, and then you dribble that bit extra in............. But on my import, the filler neck has been readjusted as per SVA requirements, but when filling, the pump KEEPS CUTTING OUT, and I dont know WHEN THE TANK IS FULL or HOW MANY LITRES A FULL TANK IS...... Can anyone help, so I know when my tank is full? (breathe) Thanks.

Agreed bout wishing petrol was cheaper. Had mine a month and the right foot hasnt calmed down yet. I keep thinking Im gonna have to calm down or I will end up breaking the engine.........

End of second day of ownership of my AS200 now passed and a few more miles under the belt. I upset the girlf when I stated more girlies were turning their heads at this car than the beemer, (but I managed to laugh it off). But seriously I am getting more attention in this Altezza. One concern I raised at time of purchase is the one standard key (toyota badged) that was handed over, and I have to centrally lock from the drivers door key slot. I miss the remote that was with the test drive IS200 sport from Lexas Edgware Road. Of course, the indicators do not flash. It raises two questions (again!) 1. Is there an alarm on the AS200 and how can it be set from the standard key, as the indicators are not flashing to confirm alarm/deadlocking set, etc. 2. Can I source another remote key at a good price? 3. Can i get a later spec radio from Lexus direct to replace my restricted waveband jap radio, with the six cd slot in the "older" position at the base of the radio, comapred to the latesty model with the 6 cd slot at the top?

Tesco sounds good.... You cant do an online quote though as the drop down boxes do not support the Altezza. I went with express insurance group based in birmingham they also used chaucer, £525.

Jas, Ive been hearing about your probs mate, bad luck, not nice to hear. I got mine already done from the previous owner who was the importer. Have you imported yours yourself?

That sounds like my kinda stuff now the weather is getting here. I used to be down there all last season with my (ahem) Sax VTR with the saxosportsclub. Great memories.

....And I am one of those 3 series defectors. This was my car before.. Because of the high amount on the road my residual value dropped and becuase of my greed of wanting a better car :) , I had to lose a fair bit of money on it. Still, the current car makes me smile much more than the beemer.
