  1. Fingers crossed! Excellent news Dave, hope this resolves the issue. (I can't help but wonder how the 'remedy' works, and if there's a downside to it
  2. Having had three Mercedes (the last being an S500) I became very unhappy with the build quality. I wanted a comfortable, reliable and well-made car. Needing a vehicle I could step down from (age comes to us all - if we're lucky) an RX450 fitted the bill just perfectly. Its reliability has been flawless, it's a pleasure to drive, and mpg isn't bad either. As an addendum, I was lent a courtesy car for the annual service - a UX, and have to say I was impressed, both with performance and mpg, for after a good 100 miles of mixed roads, it still provided 52mpg.
  3. Well done Philip!! (wish I'd tried that too!)
  4. They take "an extremely dim view of it"!
  5. Ooh no - according to the LOC card terms: "Cannot be used online or at Halfords Autocentres." AND: the Halfords autocentre LOC card excludes tyres!
  6. Great stuff David, delighted your problem's been resolved, and good to learn that Toyota do an alternative battery. Thanks for the update.
  7. Good head's-up John. I bought a pair of Cross climates for our wee beastie last week, from Halfords, and they have the same offer. In fact, I booked them via Quidco, and will likely receive an extra 5% rebate
  8. And my figures above are for a 3series RX - the 4RX are more economical
  9. David, I've been through similar experiences to you, and you'll find that Herbie and Barry's comments are comprehensive, and contain all the information you need. (and I keep a Genius Battery Booster in my car)
  10. Hey! That was a cracking little puzzle!
  11. Love your last photo' of the car looking longingly over the Pennines - (just thinking -) "Oooh - open countryside - just let me loose, I'll be like a collie in a field of sheep!
  12. I 'think' it has long been 100k - - - but just speak to them - - after all - - they will want your business
  13. I bought, (and used) one of these AA branded solar chargers for many months during the recent two years of COVID (relative) immobility, and it kept the battery well topped up. (Please note that it is unlikely to produce sufficient energy during winter months! (Even in Kent) You should also ensure that your 12v battery is in reasonable condition (or replace with a new one)
  14. I cannot help with your query Paul, (or even make you feel any more comfortable with your washing machine) - but can provide you with the following information. Grundig is owned by Beko, (part of a Turkish conglomerate Arçelik AS, (part of a top 500 company Koç Holding) - a massive business - - and they have launched Grundig as a retailer 'tertiary' brand - - (almost as an 'own label' alternative( I believe that in the UK it is stocked* by Curry's (Curry's/Dixons/PC World/Carphone Warehouse group) (*Possibly exclusively?) The reviews I've found on 't'interweb have not been particularly good, and unfortunately Which Magazine reviews haven't been their most glowing either. NB the Trustpilot reviews website appears to be non-too happy with Grundig either So - it may be that a possible route to chase up your supplies of 'fibre filters' is through your retailer .....
  15. My mpg figures (running on E10 fuel.. Today - 210 miles on A1, steady 70mph - returned 34.3 mpg Last week 120 miles, all in town, up/down hill, loads of traffic lights/slow traffic etc returned 32.5mph
