Monica - Herbie's recommendation of battery supplier is bang on the money.
Our RX's battery failed last year (2014 !!) and we replaced it from Lexus Parts Direct. Fast delivery and cheaper than your dealer doing it for you!
I made a point of maintaining an auxiliary 12v battery connection to the car whilst changing the battery, and thus didn't lose any of the settings on the car or alarm systems. (Easy to do - and can save a deal of faffing about!)
I have always found that keeping my wife as a named driver on my policy has ALWAYS resulted in a cheaper premium, (and, for the same reason, I was always a named driver on my wife's car)
Seriously - worth doing.
Delighted that you've had the armchair returned Barry, - thank you for your detailed précis of all that you've been through so far, it always helps the rest of us to understand some of the obtuse processes of the insurance industry.
Fingers crossed for an healthy resolution to the issue.
Oh - - I would love to hunt around for a Gen 4 bargain in a year-or-so's time, but as am now 'pension-bound' that will need remain a pipe dream
Still - our 2014 should still be going strong 🤞, and it meets all our needs and aspirations.
(I think)
But it'll be good to see a few Gen 5's on the roads
Dan,
Before you launch into a new policy - - spend an hour or so reading this article and some of its options: https://www.moneysavingexpert.com/insurance/car-insurance/
I too have found that the fabric laminate pouches tend to degenerate with time, and short of keeping a metal box in my pocket which may be uncomfortable (I wonder if an hip flask could be easily converted!).
I'm now in the habit of testing the pouches every few weeks. Am currently on my third set .
