  1. I have a service plan with our Lexus Dealership, and although my car is a different model from yours, the service plan is set out on a similar structure to yours. However - the Dealership accepted that they give a discount to Lexus Owners Club Members (the premium membership). Similarly - Derby, Leicester, and Wolverhampton also offer a 10% discount on service, parts and service plans. It should be worth your while to take out a LOC Gold Membership! (£59 for two years if I recall correctly)
  2. Hi John, (.E) We plumped for a RX450h three years ago, and have never failed to be impressed with it. Of course, the used car market continues to be somewhat bullish - and the Lexus brand, because of its build quality and reliability will always hold their values - but I agree with royoftherovers, purchase from a Lexus Dealership if you can - at least you should be getting a car that's been properly checked over! A list of all the dealerships vehicles is here: https://usedcars.lexus.co.uk/en/Lexus/rx
  3. Well........ This subject is much debated, for each of us 'makes our choice - and pays our money'! In truth, the servicing done by your Lexus dealership should be exemplary, and all the parts they use will be genuine Lexus components. Of course they charge more than your local garage, and they make a profit on all the parts they sell, your hybrid system is thoroughly checked, and you get the benefit of the 'Relax' warranty (I think) I've made the same decision with our car, and just taken out a three year service plan, (including MOT even!), on a monthly direct debit, (and negotiated the price down with the discount available for being a LOC member - of course! It gives a peace of mind. Come the day when our car gets too 'long in the tooth' I may change to a local garage, (but I've had 'posh' cars before that have caused the local chaps problems!)
  4. Hi Shachar, I've not the same model as you, (mine's an RX450h F) - but I'll share my experience - it may possibly help. We bought our car three years ago from a dealership, and it had 4 Dunlop Sport 235-55-19, (made three years previously), and, as expected, the ride was fairly hard, (I had no problem 'feeling the road surface' 🤔), in fact, I felt absolutely everything, and the appalling road surfaces near me kept me on my toes. A few months ago - and two years research on this forum,I noted that other members had praised the comfort of Michelin Cross Climate tyres, so I had saved my 'beer tokens', and replaced the Dunlops with Michelins. What a difference! A softer, more comfortable ride, much quieter too. I draw the following conclusions: The rubber is newer, more elastic, and absorbs impact better. The RX prefers Cross Climate's to Dunlop's. So you may discover that a different brand will provide a better result, but it may well not be Michelins, so seek the experiences of fellow GS300 owners , and see what they recommend
  5. I strongly suspect that the availability of a courtesy vehicle is down to the Dealership manager. I'm always offered a vehicle for the day. (I book my service and MOT a month in advance - enabling the team to plan the availability). I have my car serviced at Lexus Sheffield (thanks guys) and am as happy as a sandboy ...... (Strongly suspect that phrase dates me!)
  6. You made me think of the phrase "The Devil is in the detail(ing)"
  7. And folks don't appreciate how long our doors are, and that we feel happier when there's 20 foot wide parking bays!
  8. I don't think it's required, for the level of damage covered by the 'Scratches and dents' policy wouldn't normally be anything covered in your (pukka) car insurance.
  9. Yep - - buckets are permitted when fed from a fixed tap/river/canal/lake/boating pond.
  10. I have found that Scratch / dent insurance is only good value when I've scratched or dented the car! And I haven't in three years - so that was £300 spent for no known result. (Mind you - if I hadn't bought the policy, it's a racing chance that some chuckwit on an e-scooter will have bounced into it!) 😉
  11. Well, I tend to use two tyre gauges, one on my air pump, and a small pocket one. They are both +/- 1 psi with each other - and I'm comfortable with that. I'm quite prepared to believe that all tyre pressure gauges will have an 'accurate' lifespan - so when these two start to disagree more strenuously, then I'll replace (one of?) them.
  12. Halfrauds are excellent at doing what they do well, well. I just haven't discovered what that 'thing' is yet.
  13. Having bought from several (different brands of car) from 'Dealership chains' over my lifetime, and had good and indifferent experiences, I am reconciled to the most likely fact that the performance of any specific dealership is down to the manager/owner of that location, rather than the ultimate owner.
  14. Indeed, Herbs. As you do, I feel the immediate post-war (WWII!) generation has been amongst the most benefitted in terms of income, living standard improvements and disposable income of all the UK generations. We're not the most 'affluent' of the Western countries, and, ignoring ALL, but ALL, political stances and opinions, we are certainly amongst the most fortunate. We are also at the forefront of the increasing awareness of the planet's problems (AKA on the last bus) - I'd suggest we've even booked the front seats on the upper deck. But to answer the question - 'have fuel prices affected my driving'? I'd have to answer, possibly, probably and maybe, but the very act of owning an hybrid car has sparked my naturally competitive elements. I always try to achieve a better result than last time, (just as I always tried to improve my performance on the b'stard rowing machine in the gym* - *(now many years behind me)). The only thing that has upset 'The Quest' is E10 fuel, but the desire to ever improve is quietly winning the day. The most satisfying aspect of being a competitor, is when one is a winner!
