  1. They look good to me! Maybe think about adding some ducting to the back of your new replacement fogs so the air is directed towards the brakes? :D Well Done! :)
  2. Voted. You have 77.07% of the Votes :)
  3. Well I must be a sad git then - I just don't get all this fancy ring tone stuff and stick with the standard Nokia ring tone. Unimmaginative, but not embarrising when in a quiet working environment and your phone rings!
  4. I used these guys about 6 years ago and the stuff was pretty good! They are only in Oldham too! :) http://www.noisekiller.co.uk/
  5. Sorry to hear that :( Doing 80mph in a 70mph zone, is their a chance that you will have the option of the speed awareness course rather then having 3 points?
  6. Good work Stav! Well Done mate! :D What is that DAB radio you have? Seems like something to get for the Aristo ;)

    Tyres

I am the same: 1. Recommendaion When looking for tyres I do lots of research on owners clubs, look at magazine tests, website tyre ranking sites etc. I am not scared of trying lesser known brands if I have had enough recommendations from people that actually have the same tyre on the same or similar car as sime. Thats why I went for Vesdestein Ultrac Sessanta tyres for the Aristo (and the thread pattern looks great ); I could have gone with the older Goodyear Eagle F1 GSD3 for a similar price but I really heard great things about the Ultrac Sessanta Tyres - especually in the wet! Based on reasearch for the BMW I went for Falken FK-452 and don't regret it. 2. Price Obviously price is important, but no way would I blindly just get a tyre I hadn't heard of just because it was cheap; like I said earlier as long as the tyre is recommended then the price comes into play :)
  8. Windows XP ok, so Windows Movie Maker isn't going to be able to handle the HD. Not sure your friend is going to be able to do much for free with HD video. There are various free conversion utilities as has been said, I've used SUPER myself (although not for this same purpose). You could try something like Virtualdub which does conversions and could be used for some basic editing (e.g. splitting the video into sections). If your friend has an HD camcorder, then why not invest in some proper editing software so as to be able to make full use of it ? Thanks for your suggestions. Apprecaited it :D She has only just got the camcorder, so having a play at the moment, but I'm sure she will look into some decent software.
  9. Seriously?! Thats obviously no help to him as he doesnt have a mac, so why post it? Thanks for the help Stav :) I do actually have a Mac, but this is for my friend, so I can not suggest using a Mac because she doesn't have one! :D Tyger - thanks for the link to iMovie HD.
  10. Thanks :) I have this on my PC for when I want to convert movies for use with my Nokia phone; but it has so many settings and seems really complex. Have you actually successfully converted from an MP4 movie to say a .mpg with this?
  11. Hi guys, I was wondering if any of the video editing gurus on here can help me! :) A friend of mine recenly bought a Toshiba High Definition Camcorder - its not a mega expensive one, but still a nice peice of kit; it has an 80gb hard drive. The problem is once you record your footage and download it to the PC it is in .mp4 video format. The only video editing software she has is Windows Movie Maker and that doesn't support this format. Does anyone know of any (free! ) software available that can convert from .MP4 video into a format that Windows Movie Maker can load? Quite a few seem to come up with a google search but the few she has tried don't seem to do the job. Thanks, Anees
  12. Glad you are pleased with your car now! Well Done Mr Mole! :D A rare person that is happy with the work carried out on his car by guys wearing TDI
  13. Thank goodness that their might be a bit of light at the end of the tunnel!!! :)
  14. Got to love your stig mate Geoff will be pi&&ing himself Maybe a Arab Sheik will buy them? Thanks mate........lets see if he notices.... ;)
  15. I read that Ross Brawn and Nick Fry have one month to find a buyer for the team. Apparently you can buy the whole team for a £1 (then take on the 200m running costs! :o)
  16. Going to use a new word I have learnt to describe them - RICER :P
  17. @ Wozza You shouldn't have said that, now I can't stop thinking of it everytime I look at the grill! ;)
  18. Don't take this the wrong way, but I have always thought of the SC as a girls car, but WOW!! :o Yours looks so mean and menacing! Loving it - I mistook it for a AMG Merc for moment! Well Done! :)
  19. Well mate, because many Aristos have knackered SMIC's it is really hard to tell if a FMIC is really better or if it just feels so much better because of the poor state of the standard SMIC. I was talking to Skeet94, and he has a Greddy 3 Row Intercooler and he had a massive difference (over 20C!) when changing to a FMIC, but saying that his standard SMIC was so brittle that it would just fall apart if you touched the fins! Thanks Bazza. If the weather clears up abit at the weekend I will do a few more test runs. The week before the weather was pretty reasonable and I was trying to find out what max boost was on the boost guage I installed so I went out at night and did many runs from 30mph to (ahem) mph and dispite over half an hour of the car at just under 1bar (which is the most I can expect with the current rate of tune, the intake temperature hit a max of 104F (40C) however I can't remember what the outside temperature was. You are right that at some stage a FMIC will be the step forward but at the moment I think I should get to 1.2bar (BPU) and then see how it does. If I feel I need a FMIC then I will get one (and hopefully the Yen will have dropped abit against the Pound!) Despite all the sense talked above I really would like to get a FMIC just for the bling! I would cut out a section in the centre of the front bumper where the numberplate holder is so it could be exposed to more air and ducted properly and then I could move the numberplate to the side and I would have an excuse to get a smaller import one (rules say you can have them if the car is an import AND their is no space on the car for a standard UK plate) As Gord says....... I do like the bling! I have seen a guy on the MKIVSupra club selling a quality 3 Row Greddy Intercooler that is top notch and am tempted to get it, but not sure who I could get to custom fabricate the pipework for the Aristo.
  20. Hi guys, I have been slowly gathering the parts I need to get my Aristo up to the 400bhp mark and I was going to get a decent Front Mounted Intercooler (FMIC), but with the pound so weak against the Yen at the moment, the prices have shot up. I was talking to a knowledgeable friend last week and he told me that since my car has only done 70K mile and the previous owners kept it garaged (or used it as a 3rd car) my standard SMIC (Side Mounted Intercooler) should be in good nick. He said I should only change the standard SMIC for a FMIC if (as in most cases) the SMIC is in a poor state. The standard SMIC is well ducted and efficient according to him. The Supra users a slightly poorer design and some users get away with a small single turbo with the stock SMIC if it is working well! :o I used some equipment that can read diagnostics from the car and I decided to do an experiment to see how it went. I decided to monitor Intake Temperatures and got the following results: Outside Temperature was 2C (35F) Started car and after 5 minutes (car parked) - (5.5C) 42F Intake Temperature 10 minute drive to the shops (off boost) - (10C) 51F Intake Temperature 15 minute drive - (15C) 60F Intake Temperature Once the car was up to temperature I then went on the motorway for a few moments and after about 5 mins decided to do a few consecutive 30mph - 70mph+ runs (when traffic conditions allowed ). On the first run I hit 6.7C (44F), the second run was the same and I never really got intake temperatures higher then (8.3C) 47F despite quite a few runs. So my SMIC seems to be in very good condition which is a pleasant surprise! :D So if other Aristo owners are thinking of changing their standard SMIC, I'd say check your intake temperatures first; you might be pleasantly surprised :D Saying all that............... I miss the bling of a nice big intercooler mounted upfront! Anees
  21. Must be my turn next mate Hopefully you are ok I think today is the worst day. Tomorrow its supposed to be foggy but no new snow and then Thursday its raining.
  22. LOL You just dont know how to drive a 4x4 :winky: you want to borrow mine Sorry, but im only seeing the funny side of this Me too! I can laugh at myself, so I find it funny too! (teaches me for being a smug git!) Its nothing to do with not being able to drive a 4x4, when you hit black ice with zero grip not alot you can do unfortunetly. Still if Mr Hill can crash at 3mph in ice, then we all can.................. ;) (Mr Hill is Glossops answer to the Stig for those that don't know)
