I bought one for the Aristo - cost me £199 inc Vat and then the paint and fitting! It lowers the front end of your car too, so be careful if your car is lowered a lot.
  2. Sounds like the Will Smith movie - "Enemy of the State" where the governement can hack into all aspects of your life - scary!
  3. I think you made a a sensible decision mate. :) If you were finding it hard to afford to run the IS200, no point struggling. Get a cheaper car like your Astra, enjoy it, save your money and hopefully come back next year with an IS220 or IS250. Well Done :D
  4. hello anees - have you sold any more cars recently?? Eh??? What cars? Not sold a car for ages. :)
  5. Any idea when it was filmed? I mean £300 for a HID kit did seems a bit steep to me, so maybe its an older programme and like you say he did get good money for it, especially in the current market.
  6. Glad to see you have moved on. As for the Astra bodykit .............erm............... NO COMMENT! :P
  7. I saw it too. The HID kit they put on did look awefully blue-purple, but it might just have been the cameras. Overall it did look pretty nice with the new wheels and the replacement of the amber indicators on the front with clear lenses. Just a shame they didn't complete the look with clear lenses on the side repeaters too. Good Episode! :D
  8. Well Done!!! Many Congratulations mate!! Best Wishes, Anees :D :D
  9. So I take this, this will be the first thing in your fantasy garage then?
  10. Hi Guys, What Top 5 cars would you have in your semi-fantasy car garage and why? Just to stop everyone saying Ferrari or Lambo or Bugatti, I have proposed the following guidelines. - Their is limit of £50K (Brand New Retail price) on EACH car. - Your list must include one runabout car for taking into supermarket car parks, town centres etc - You list must also include one car that is quite economical (>34mpg combined cycle) 1. BMW 335d Coupe Remapped in white with carbon fibre splitter, spoiler and other bits. Just a superbly powerful diesel that looks great and gets decent fuel economy. 2. Mitsubishi Evo 9 MR FQ360, modded obviously to some rediculous power figure! This would be the weekend pycho road going rally car with 4WD reasurance on the road and the on road handling to make it the fastest point to point car. Then again a nice Skyline R34 GT-R is also very tempting (new R35 is just out of budget), as is the new M3. B) 3. Honda S2000 GT I have always liked these, they are one of the best convertable "british sports cars" with the crazy 9K RPM VTEC Engine. Good for a sunny day. The Nissan 350Z convertable is also a contender. ;) 4. Lexus GS450h The car for taking the family out and about in with good economy. Would be a tough choice between the BMW 535D and the GS450h, but with me already having the 335D, it would be nice to stick with a Lexus. :P 5. Fiat 500 Abarth The erm............s :tsktsk: er for visiting the super market and to go around town; think it looks really nice! Never thought I would have a Fiat in my list! Obviously the BMW Mini is a contender too, but suprisingly I don't rate the build quality that highly and the suspension is pretty harsh (well on 17") for just pottering about town. Damn.......... realised I have no V8 in my list......really should have one V8 for the noise! This is a provisional list at the moment! LOL
  11. A plate (like most things!) is only worth what someone is willing to pay. Its not really a great Lexus plate to be honest, so wouldn't buy the car thinking I'll make a bit on the plate :) Whats the mileage of the car? Personally I would avoid the cream interior (but thats just my personal taste) Good luck with the hunt :)
  12. I thought it was the usual top notch entertainment! :D :D I liked the gifts they bought for each other to slow them down. The only thing missing was his highness - THE STIG! :D :D
  13. Aido, if its any help I have my standard Aristo suspension available for you to buy if you want as a stop gap? My car has only done 70K from new so all shocks and springs seem in good nick. :) I have heard that HSD are pretty good too.
  14. Many thanks mate :) You are correct, it is possible to download and run OSX86, in fact their is a version created specifically for this Netbook; but I decided to do it from scratch so I knew exactly what was going into the build. My install uses the vanilla kernal, so its exactly the same as a native Mac. I can update to 10.5.5 using the normal Apple update service and a few people have updated to 10.5.6 but I am waiting to a few weeks to see if they report any problems before doing so. I would agree that when I did it, it wasn't that straight forward having to mess with kexts etc, BUT now on the torrent sites their are downloadable ISO images of the OSX Install DVD with all the configuration needed for it to run great with the specific hardware on this netbook already configured and great to do. As Aido says, shouldn't be much harder then installing the standard OSX or a Windows Vista. The reason I tried it on the Advent 4211 is because other users on forums that have installed OSX Leopard on it have reported great success so I knew it would do a good job of running the OS. Your right, it is of course not a viable commercial solution but fine for me to have a play :P If I didn't work in IT I probably wouldn't have tried it, but fancied a go and it only took me half a day at most. Now with the downloadable MSIWind/Advent 4211 machine specific ISO images it it much easier. I shall repeat again, I have been using this setup for the past three months, with out issue, and it runs extremely stable and all plug and play USB applications work as does all the software I have tried; heck even time machine is functioning properly. At the end of the day a Mac and PC now share very similar internal components so its not that much of difference between them; they are (very simplistically looking at it) a box of very similar components. Ok the Mac i has a more groovy design! :P You think Apple will ever release their own netbook or is the current 13" MacBook the smallest they will go?
  15. Hi Chris! The MSI Wind, Advent 4211 and the Akoya are as far I as know exactly the same computer. I think your Akoya maybe a slighter newer version of my machine, hence the standard 160Gb hard drive. Hardware wise they should be the same. The max ram you can have installed is 2Gb, so I I installed a 1Gb Ram upgrade, which when combined with the standard 1Gb Ram gives you the maximum 2Gb. You need a DDR2 SODIMM like this: http://www.misco.co.uk/applications/Search...&CatId=3226 :D
  16. Hi guys, Since this forums has a lot of interest at the moment in Macs and I thought I would post about my latest computer. :) A few months ago I bought an Advent 4211 10" Netbook PC. I decided it would be a handy machine to get for work because I don't really want or need a full sized laptop to carry around and just wanted something really small and portable. I have in the past used a 12.1" Apple iBook G4 which I have had for a couple of years -its has been fine, but with it being a G4 model I can not run Windows XP (which would be handy for work) or other operating systems on it. It developed a fault a few months back, where the LCD screen stopped working. I decided to look for alternatives. The amount of money a replacement MacBook (cheapest around £600 mark + Vat) would have cost for the small amount of use I would get out of it I just didn't think was value for money for me. I use my main PC most of the time. A friend of mine that usually buys a job lot of things to sell on ebay rang me to say he was selling the Advent 4211 Netbook for £250 all in (this was about three months back remember so was a good saving over the retail price) which I thought was really good considering the spec of the machine. Review here: http://www.trustedreviews.com/notebooks/re...4211-Netbook/p1 The Netbook arrived and I thought it might be too small for me to use, but I soon got used to the 10" screen I was impressed by both the size, weight and nippy performance. :) I wanted to triple boot the Netbook with Windows XP, OSX Leopard and Ubuntu (to see what it was like). I did some research and found that OSX suited the Advent Netbook extremely well, with many tech forums (I visit the appropriate forums when I need to discuss or need advice on technical/computer matters) users reporting great success. The only issue with having OSX on the Advent netbook was that the standard wifi card is not compatible with OSX. This issue is now apparently resolved, Realtek (manufacturers of the standard wifi card) have released drivers for the Advent 4211 that are now compatible with Mac OSX, but at the time I needed a wifi card that OSX, Windows XP and Ubuntu would all work with. I opted for a Gigabyte GN-WI01GT Mini PCI card. I had a spare gig of Ram laying about too and a 320Gb Hard Drive, so upgraded the Advent to 2Gb Ram and replaced the standard 80gb Hard Drive with a 320Gb Western Digital Hard Drive so I would have loads of space and swapped the wifi card with the Gigabyte one I bought! Once the upgrade was complete I then put the Netbook back together. Here is a pic of it compared to the OSX box, it is really small! I manged to get Triple boosting sucessfully working and can now boot between Windows XP, OSX and Ubuntu. I have set the default OS to Mac OS X for now, but I have been really impressed by Ubuntu - its great!! Windows XP Obviously runs Windows XP without any issues to report. Mac OS X Leopard Runs brilliantly! Got to say it is miles faster to boot up then about 90% of "real" Macs I have used especially the MacBook Air. http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=qU4AtYOSEFA I have had VERY similar results! :D I was impressed that the Photo Booth camera software even worked with the internal Web cam! :) It runs much quicker then my old Mac G4 iBook did; I'd say desktop performance is about on par with an entry level MacBook. The only draw backs I have found are that the audio out and Mic output ports do not work though a set of headphones, but that is easily worked around using USB headphones; but the issue doesn't really bother me because the sound works fine through the netbooks speakers. People on the MSI Wind (same laptop as the Advent 4211) are working on a fix at the moment. Apart from the small headphone/mic sound issue, it runs in my opinion just was well as a proper Mac. Admittedly it does miss some of the ergonomic design features but for the price they do not bother me! Ubuntu I had never used linux before, but had heard a great deal about Ubuntu so wanted to try it. I must say I am rather impressed and it close to becoming my new default OS choice. I love the fancy effects and all the free software! This again worked straight from the install, the OS even picked up my Gigabyte wifi card which I was anticipating having trouble with. Overall I have had this machine and been using it daily for the past three months - it hasn't skipped a beat or crashed once no matter what OS I have been using. Considering the cost of this machine is only £250, I think its amongst the best things I have bought. It is really nippy, runs all three OS's really well and fulfills my needs of something really portable for a good price. Even compared to my old 12.1" iBook G4 is is just so much smaller and lighter: I have managed to get a car charger for it and a small travel charger too. The only disapointing thing is the standard battery life is not that good. If I turn off bluetooth, web cam, screen brightness etc I can get around 2.15 hours. My iBook G4 gave me an easy 3hours+. Their is a larger 6 cell battery available for the netbook however, so I might invest in that in the future. I'm sure Apple will release their own netbook at some poin with all the bells and whistles, but for the moment this is great. ;) Bargain 10" PC / Mac :D :D
  17. Yay! Fargo is back! Nice to have you back mate :D Happy New Year! :)
  18. Hi Stav, Yeah no worries, engine mods to date are... TTE Supercharger TDi uprated Intercooler TDi maifold CamCon Uprated Injectors HKS FCON VPro HKS HiPower Silent back box Hi mate :) Out of interest, how much power does that lot produce?
  19. Happy Birthday (and Christmas!) :D :D
  20. Only two people with sense in the voting so far! VOTE GREEN :D A Kensington Green IS200, gold badges, big hyper silver wheels, polished and gleaming in the sun = you can't beat it! To be honest, their are not many colours the IS200 looks bad in - it is such a good looking car! :)
  21. can you check that address There's a hosting company at www.aconda.co.uk, is that the one ? Ahem.......... yeah, thats what I meant http://www.aconda.co.uk/ :D
  22. Thats brillant! :D I have order a few bits from HK recently and they have come in double quick time; items ordered from the UK however; thats another story..... :( STILL WAITING! LOL
  23. www.aconda.co.uk Use them for all my customer hosting, cheap as chips, very reliable and unbeatable service (Vince, who is part owner, is normally on MSN so I get stuff done at all hours!! ) Mention that Anees from QubX recommended him ;)
  24. Hi Aido, Yeah the pic I post up is of the pipe I was sent by Skeet94. My first hose also split in the same place and from reading this thread is also the same place yours split from! I just didn't want to get a new one from Toyota and then be wondering if it will hold - I'd rather have the peace of mind that the hose ain't going anywhere so I went for the Silicone - and its much faster being able to order them, then to have to wait until after xmas for my local toyota dealer to get them in! I don't know how she boosts yet mate, not driven her yet, but will do tomorrow and HOPEFULLY I can get the car to hold boost at 1.2bar (120KPa) (17.5psi) with the HKS EVC Boost Controller I am trying to get to work properly- at the moment I keep getting run away boost, hitting as high as 25psi for the odd occasion which is not good and obviously contributed to the demise of my standard hose. More info here if you want to take a look (Page 3 onwards) http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.ph...4088&page=3 Are you just replacing your standard vaccum hoses with the new hoses you have bought then?
  25. The replacement pipe lasted one full throttle burst before the car just sputtered and died. I looked under the bonnet and saw the pipe had popped off. I popped it back on and made sure it was tight and went for another full throttle burst and thats was it. Opened the bonnet and saw this: So that was the end of that!! Nursed the car home again and today I decided that rather then get a stock part from Toyota I'd rather get what Stav suggested and get some reinforced Silicone Hose to replace it. I took the broken pipe along to Auto Performance Silicone Hoses in West Yorkshire and asked them to come up with what I would need to replace it. They have a MASSIVE selection of reinforced Silicone hoses and all in stock! Unit 27 Victoria Spring Business Park Wakefield Road Heckmondwike West Yorkshire WF15 6BU I used these guys before when buying pipeworks for my BMW Intercooler so knew they were good. Decided on a 90 degree elbow reducer (76mm - 63mm), a 45 degree 63mm elbow and two aluminium metal hose joiners; oh and some jubilee clips and a super strong T-bolt clip. Excellent Service and help from Auto Performance Silicone :D Got home and compared to by standard part and started joining my pipes together: Cut them down: After some playing and tightening up the hoses I think it looks rather good and I have peice of mind that pipe aint going anywhere!!! I also used some hair spray on the inside of the silicone hose (which is a tip I read about). Hopefully I never have problems with that pipe again!! Anees :D
