  1. You should never REDLINE an engine, either on the road or dyno, there's not point anyway as your coming down both the POWER and TORQUE curve's on a NA engine, Most supercharged engines will continue to make power right up to the REDLINE (max engine rpm) but peak torque will have already been reached well before you've hit the REDLINE. When using a Rolling Road or Chassis dyno, firstly the correct road load model should be used, Usally both power and torque are meaured using 1:1 gearing, I don't have the IS200 gear ratio's to hand, I guess this is 4th gear or as near as makes very little differance. Most engine power dedicated rolling roads will automatically calculate the loses caused by engine friction and drive train during Coast Down in gear. and give you either both power/torque at the Flywheel or road wheels. An engine that makes say 150 bhp at the flywheel will not make anywhere near that at the wheels and nearly manufactures quote power and touque at the Flywheel not the road wheels.

  13. Has Lexus or Toyota Japan officially announced that will launching a new model in 2005, If they haven't then it's all just rumour and guess work. Buy now and enjoy, I know cos I have, only another 48 days until I take delivery of new IS200 Sport.
  14. Wakey Wakey everybody, It's not real. It's a computer Image. Until it's shown in sheet metal don't believe anything. Anyway it's to radical for Niche market the 'IS' is aimed at here in Europe. When it's officially released it will be an evolution of the present model not a reinvention. You only have to look at past revised models. :iraqi-info-minister:
  15. Firstly applogies for mentioning info about what's in the gold forum's. Post has been edited and yes I've given my wrists a good slap. All the protection devices are in the public domain so any body can get information on the products, And when security devices are fitted, the company concerned always puts a sticker in the window, you've only got to look at the 'IS' front windows, they must be 2 stickers on each front window, when you pick up the car from new. Another example is 'Neighbourhood Watch' they advise you put stickers informing would be 'Low Lifes' you've marked all your removeable item's. I don't think it would defeat the purpose, maybe they might think twice before attempting steal your pride enjoy.
  16. Try here, about half way down page http://l-tunedparts.com/html/partsordering...-tomsIS300.html
  17. People, After reading 'tariq' thread about the attempt theft of his car, I checked the 'Gold Club' discounts.edited out edited out. Loads for adding little gizmos and bolt on goodies. If I am wrong, I'm sure someone will point me in the right direction. This is only suggestion, what about a group buy or someone trying to get one of companies offering good additonal security devices added to the Gold Discount list. I know all Lexus cars have a good security locks a fair well in security surveys but so do 'Fords' and look how many them get stolen. I really haven't given the security side much thought until tonight, it's got me thinking now. I've added a couple of links below, have a look and see what you all reckon. http://www.clearwatershoppingplaza.co.uk/c...water/alarm.asp http://www.sempal.co.uk/ http://www.alansmith.co.uk/alarmselect/68hi.htm http://www.timesonline.co.uk/article/0,,38...-553587,00.html this one is not legal in the UK, Dam good idea though. Prefer the spike through the base of the drivers seat better. http://www.clifford.co.uk/home.html
  18. If you give them a beating, there's nothing worse than having 2 broken arms, at the elbow. Think about it. How would you cope with two arms in plaster and you can't bend them Evil I know. They might think twice about doing it again. This one doesn't look bad idea. http://www.alansmith.co.uk/alarmselect/68hi.htm
  19. Gentlemen, I might be barking up the wrong tree here, from all your comments it sounds like you are all suffering from what is known as 'Flares', when you De-cell and disengage the clutch your engine speed increases maybe by a couple of hundred RPM, this is trade-off with 'Tip In/ Tip out' the more the 'Dash pot' is reduced 'Engine cal term' for engine brakeing. the less 'Engine Brake' you have and the better tip in (bump)and tip out (bump), this would be more annoying than the 'flares' as these cause a low frequency oscillations which can cause car sickness for passengers during city driving. Although I don't own an IS200, Currenlty car is on order (see below) when I had a test drive of a IS200 SE, I didn't notice any flares on the gear change, The only thing I had an issue with was the 'Fly by Wire' throttle, it took a while to get used to, it seemed a little to sensitive to me, that said, try and change your driving style a little. When you accellerate step in a little further and for slightly longer before changing gear, a little difficult with 1st as I found it a little to short. Lexus might have made a better job of the transmission if they had picked a ratio between 1st and 2nd for 1st gear and then only had a 5 speed transmission which may have been better for Drivability but not for marketing. The last thing I will say is, When I finally get my hands on mine and if it suffers from 'Flares' I will be straight back to the dealer complaining
