  1. IS200 Sport 54 just approaching 130k. Last couple of Lexus services cost a bit but still running very well. In for service on Friday locally, fingers crossed.
  2. Chris, I'll take one in Astral Black, let me know how you want payment. Thanks
  3. I have had my IS from new and the first set of rears lasted about 18k. Would have lasted longer had there been more air in the tyres - lots of motorway driving and the centre had worn more than the edges. Up to 25k now, and have even wear though could not tell you whether the second set are lasting any better or worse than the previous pair. Front set still fine. However, if you are worried about uneven wear, make a visit to the good doctor Bones. He comes highly recommended.
  4. Slightly as I have an IS, but when the good Dr Bones checked my car over, he asked whether I did a lot of motorway driving. I asked why, and he said that the rears were worn more in the centres than the edges, to the tune of a few mm, and that for frequent motorway driving, you should have 1-2 PSI more air than you would if you didn't drive on the motorway frequently.
  5. Just to add my two pennies, went to see Tony on Friday after someone decided to 'tickle' the front of the car last Monday. Tony showed me the geo readout, and the offending front offside measurements, checked to make sure nothing had been bent with the impact, and proceeded to sort everything out. Well worth the visit, both for the education and the peace of mind. I would recommend it to anyone - I have a '54 IS, and still had three wheels adjusted. It's not just for 'older' cars!
  6. Can I please add my thanks to Ian and his team too. Once I'd settled down from a near incident on the adjacent roundabout :o , I had a very enjoyable afternoon. Didn't make it out in the GS, but can vouch for the RX hybrid; Spookily quiet when idle, for obvious reasons, but plenty there when you need it. Thanks again Ian!
  7. Mauritius, but don't tell the other half if you know what I mean. Nothing booked yet, but plans are plans. Can also recommend Maui, was there last year - just make sure you jump off the waterfalls as well as look at them.
  8. Likewise, will keep an eye on the thread. Can remember the exact cost, but when when I was having the side skirts re-fitted to my IS, I asked Lexus Reading to have someone look at the chips I have in the bonnet with a view to telling me what I could do to have them removed. Got an insurance quote from the Toyota bodyship in Bracknell for > £400 for a re-spray of the bonnet - ok, I know they are all part of the Octagon group, but would have been nice to have had a piece of paper with Lexus on it!! Suffice to say, still have the chips in the bonnet ...
  9. Was in Southampton at the weekend visiting friends but not sure this is me. Don't know the area too well but think this was too far west. Besides, I have std 18s and the factory fit kit, sounds like you saw something a bit more special. Steve
  10. 2004 54 Sport (no mods (yet)) 18" Alloys 225/40/18 Just under half a tank left, Front 360mm Rear 360mm
  11. Staying ... My old A3 had lighting for the electric windows and mirrors buttons. Now the nights are in, finding the button for the mirrors without first finding the buttons for the windows is a minor annoyance.
  12. Went to Maui this year, stayed at Four Seasons in Wailea. Company sponsored, so kinda limited w.r.t time; lots of trips and excursions as you would expect - I did the Haleakala bike ride - something like 38km all down hill, only pedal for about 600yds. On the last day we did get to jump off the odd water fall (called Twin Falls), if that's your thing, not far past Ho'okipa Beach, which is famous for the surfing. I'd go back.
  13. How about a second hidden share (put a $ on the end of the share name) with restricted access to those in the know?
  14. I am not sure it is possible to set password access to a folder - just tried it on my XP Pro system here; I note that you have a Win2k system. But you can set security settings on individual folders - so if you create a top level share, then work down the folders allowing or denying access as necessary - a bit of a long way around I know. Users connected to the share can then access (or not) folders based upon their userid.
  15. Thanks to all for the warm welcome! Did stay for food - they called the table before I finished my pint - seemed a shame to turn it down after the wait but wasn't all that great! Anyway, see you all again soon.
  16. #2 pls Matt, and thanks for sorting the account. Steve
  17. Not having much fun this week. For those of you who saw the thread ref: pets and new cars you'll aready know I've got work to do this weekend. Now I've gone and kerbed one of the rear wheels. Not I hope this is just a fast-track view of private car ownership, having just left the company car scheme, and may it stop right now. Anyway, back to the subject. Does anyone know a reliable repair outfit in the Windsor area, who could take a look at it? I have been pointed towards STS Motorsport in Slough, so may pay them a visit tomorrow. Would Lexus Reading undertake such a fix, or is this a specialist task? Thanks all, your patience is appreciated. :duh:
  18. Closer inspection of mine - looks like the seal is glued to the skirt, but not to the vehicle - not at all tacky to the bodywork in the places it has come off. Car isn't in to the dealer for a week, but I'll tell you what I know then.
  19. Just before I speak to Lexus Reading and get fobbed off ... I presume the skirts are stuck to the side of the car with some form of double sided foam, and bolted on the inside of the wheel arches? Or are they just bolted with sufficient 'in-spring' (new term!) in the skirt to keep it up close to the bodywork, with the seal you are all after just providing protection for the bodywork?
  20. Will do my best (first meet - be nice to the newbie!), but under some DIY pressure myself. It's in the diary, lest I forget.
