Common problem - it's not the switch it's the mirrors. The up and down movement fails due to the linkage of mirror movement to engaging reverse gear. They thought it was a good idea to aid visibility while reversing. Up/down adjustment is hardly ever needed, I've easily managed to live 8 years without it. The alternative for perfection is 2 new mirror units at several hundred pounds each (plus fitting) and unless is disconnected from reverse selection will likely fail again.

CANBUS remedial work with main dealers.
IronLizard replied to IronLizard's topic in Lexus LC500 Coupe Club
Looking at the latest comments on the article Lexus have finally fessed up that there's no updates and they're still working on it, so for now at least it's seemingly pointless contacting your local dealer. -
Chris, hello, are you still there? Your keyboard is not typing anything.

The YouTube guy with the same problem as me said a battery change fixed everything even though his original 12 volt battery appeared fine (which mine appears fine as well) and my car friend has suggested that 350amps left on my battery for my hybrid car seems low. So that settles it I’ll buy a new battery. it’s been 3 years since I last changed it and Lexus did say to me it would last 2-3 years.

Considering sale of RCF and switch to….
Rob RCF replied to RCF Fan's topic in Lexus F Club - Lexus IS-F / GS-F / RC-F Club
It's not quite as practical as an RCF, but depends what you need really. I go shopping in it, I've been on week long holidays with it and had room to spare. You get a front and rear boot so it's more practical than an MX-5 or S2000. -
Yeah, they are extremely expensive for what they are. A cheaper option is to import them from Japan for half the price, including shipping. 04946-30110 Regardless, I'm not sure they'll cure a "clunk" type of sound, the shims mostly help with rattles or squealing.

IS250 Towbar
MrTrendizzle replied to Zuke's topic in Lexus IS 250 / Lexus IS 250C Club / Lexus IS 220D & IS 200D Club
You just made me check my logbook and go "Hmph" It does indeed say under vehicle details O.1 1500kg braked and O.2 560kg unbraked. The problem with this is the MAM is 2055kg while the Kerb weight is 1710kg so surely adding a trailer+load of 1500kg goes way above the MAM unless MAM is for the car itself and i can still add 1500kg bringing the complete combined weight of car+trailer+load to 3555kg. I assume this is the case. -
LBX Passenger Seat Comfort
Expatma replied to Expatma's topic in Lexus LBX Owners Club - The All-New Lexus LBX
Going to take a 2 hour test drive to determine once and for all whether the passenger seat can be adjusted so as to be comfortable for my wife. if it can then likely we will buy, if not then back to the research for alternatives! -
Well I got a quick reply from LV basically stating that the LBX was not yet added to their approved list so they could not offer insurance on it! When I asked when/if it would be added got typical fob off reply that they won’t know until it is added! So no further forward at all. I must wonder why it is taking insurance companies so long to add the LBX to their approved lists, perhaps Lexus are just not big enough to gain any importance in expediting their analysis?

Android auto disconnecting
Richolf replied to Richolf's topic in Lexus NX300h / NX200t / NX350h / NX450h Club
That’s was my view, something either behind or at the other end. It doesn’t disconnect if I waggle the cable. Unfortunately not a second one as only one is linked to AA -
Thank you. This confirms i don't have the shims for the car. I do have the fitting kit (Thin spring like bits that hook over the top of the pads/sliders) Can driving without those metal shims be a cause for a loud clunk as if a ball joint was broken and two large bits of metal collide when you press the brake sharply but not hard and when you release quickly while moving have it clunk a second time? Just had a look on LPD and they're really really expensive... Are they just a sheet of steel? I may have to do some DIY experiments with some snips and sheet metal to create my own and see if that prevents the clunking before diving in to that cost. EDIT: Just went for a drive and if i pump the handbrake while rolling forward i get the exact same clunk as if i use the footbrake... My suspicion is the disc itself moving forward/backward as the holes for the wheel bolts are oval rather than round so when the brakes grip the disc the wheel continues a few mm creating the large clunk sound i'm hearing.

….just a quick note to add a term and condition concerning the sale of my Lexus LS 400. I have received interest enquirie’s from a couple of oversea’s potential buyer’s. comfortable at the price and willing to collect for onward export to their home countrie’s. reluctantly, I have now decided to only sell my Lexus LS 400 to Great Britain purchaser’s only ( ie: GB mainland only ). why, you will ask ? simply due to the bureaucracy and unnecessary risk, hassle and stress ! the Author’s decision is final. anthony

AWD/4WD v 2WD What are the advantages?
my quest replied to Sgelten's topic in Lexus UX200, UX250, UX250h, UX300e Club
I think the point about whether the UX is a 'family' car revolves not around how many people you can get inside the car but rather what you can get in the boot when you have four people inside the car! If you have two kids in the back and are going on holiday for a week, where are you going to stow all the gear and suitcases? It ain't all going to go in the boot! And don't forget the pushchair and a highchair as well every time you visit the in-laws..! That's why, IMHO, it won't work for a lot of one-car families. I used to be able to leave my golf bag and golf cart (trolly) in the boot of my RX450h all the time. Having down-sized to my UX - which I love - it's a different story and the rear seats have to go down every time. I knew that would be the case and accepted it. -
Error during map update os NX450h
RXtoNX replied to Pat_D's topic in Lexus NX300h / NX200t / NX350h / NX450h Club
Unless things have changed in the past month map updates currently can only be done by the dealer. They are FOC but it means that the dealer will need your car for 2 hours. Had ours done 2 months ago & dealer provided us with a courtesy car for the day.
