  1. Past hour
  2. dreadful for you 🥵 I was under the clearly false impression that modern day cars would automatically NOT lock with keys in the boot 🤔 Ah, we usually keep the 2nd set of keys in gfs handbag hopefully also not locked in the car Well done only 90 mins climbing out of that mire Malc
  3. I picked up my NX today, and was told I should hear from Lexus in a couple of months.
  4. Word of advice. Do not lock your car keys in the boot whilst on holiday! 90 minutes later I was on my way again after breakdown man opened car door by squeezing metal rod thru door window. Emergency boot release is under armrest glovebox btw. Embarrassment mostly gone now!
  5. Yes, also known years ago as "Lexus Chap" and the last time I saw him selling a car he went under the name "fun in the sun"
  6. Today
  7. NFU have come in at £850 with a pledge not to increase premiums year to year as they don't have shareholders to please. Their cover includes national breakdown/assist, window replacement and very reasonable excesses (zero to £350 depending on what it is). They fall in between first Call and Lexus but offer more comprehensive cover than the cheaper one, so may go with NFU.
  8. It indeed sounds like electrical issue, mainly because of mysterious issues and no fault codes. No fault codes suggests something isn't communicating right with the ECU.
  9. In a word. Annoying (the CT, not the 430). But I have hit close to 60mpg on the way down without trying too hard so I'll take the compromise Mark. It actually feels almost like the Nissan Primera GTLE I used to have years ago. That thing was lovely to drive (and so is this)but the suspension was slightly stiffer. Hopefully I'll try and do a comparison review in YT at some point as they are both lovely things. Pity about not have soft close doors or cruise control 😆 but I think I'll live.
  10. Hi well funnily enough I’ve recently had a few updates through the car console, although they seem to be related to voice updates I’ve accepted them, then approximately 2-3 weeks ago the warning stopped. So at the moment I only get the warning if charged to 100% and then when it gets down to 95% it stops. Although still annoying as it pings and remains on the dash so you can’t see the set up of that part of the dash at least it doesn’t last to long, but like you before this it was on till 80%. It actually has nothing to do with the brakes themselves, what it means is that as you lift your foot off the accelerator and give yourself longer before you brake some charge goes back into the battery, (regenerative braking) you can see that area on the speedometer, to be honest it’s minimal. So what it’s saying is that at 100% it can’t throw any charge back into the battery because the battery is fully or near to full charge, makes sense. The problem really is, we couldn’t care less whether or not braking slower can give back some extra charge and would much more prefer not to know and have a peaceful drive instead. 🤣
  11. Thanks...yes, just had a look at the actual policy. And it shows UX250h Plus. I suppose this DOES suggest Premium Plus? (i.e. the UX25h can be either Premium or Premium Plus, so if just described as Plus then it must be Premium Plus, right?) It's just that on the settlement offer we have had they just described it as UX250h + 4x2 CVT, so wasn't sure if that was doing it enough justice.
  12. Sorry but I already have a quote from AXA for £1.800 with my 5 years of NCD from EU. I doubt you could offer a better deal especially with my postcode and lack of previous insurance in UK. Thanks anyway The is300h was ridiculous 🤣🤣 at least now I know for sure to keep staying away from Facebook.
  13. well you figured it out... £2500 for IS250, not unrealistic, but I have found many cars on fb marketplace to have undeclared write-offs and just generally worse quality compared to Autotrader. IS300h for some reason are really popular for scams on FB, not sure why, maybe because people don't know them, but they look decent and putting one for £5000 doesn't look immediately suspicious for people who do not follow the car values and furthermore don't know what Lexus is. But yes - any of those below ~£8,000-£9,000 are scams. Not even sure how they work, but my assumption would be asking for deposit to be transferred before car can be viewed and then disappearing. I tried to contact few scammers there just to understand how they work, but they simply never responded, so don't know how big is the scam. Also - FB completely ignores those scams and allows them to exist, I have reported like 10 adds that were clearly scam and got response "we can't see anything wrong with them". Yeah sure - 2019 IS300h F-Sport with 55,000 miles for £4,500 is obviously "legit deal".
  14. I replaced the arms on my IS and its very easy to DIY. They're only held in place by a single nut, 14mm or thereabouts. It'll be covered by a cap that you have to pry off. Order the new ones from Amayama. They'll cost 25% of a UK dealer price.
  15. Hi Sorry to hear about your loss, it's an awful thing to happen to anyone. What details are mentioned on your current insurance policy? My own policy has the model (F-sport) and the grade - premium plus listed. Regards
  16. How does it drive compared to an LS430 - just curious
  17. I have just had my 2019 (19 plate) UX250h stolen (I believe via a CanBus attack). We bought it from a general used-car dealership in 2022 and it was a Premium Plus spec as far as I can tell (heated seats, heated wheel, tan leather seats for example). However, the paperwork we have describes it as a UX 250H + 4x2 CVT. Does that + in the description 'prove' it is a Premium Plus model? i.e. when the insurer offers us a settlement fee will that extra detail (+ 4x2 CVT) tell them it was a Premium Plus model and mean they offer us the right settlement fee? Or could it be that we have a different model and the car had these features added as optional items? Just trying to understand whether the + just means 'and' whether it definitely signifies Premim Plus. Any help on this much appreciated...
  18. Hi. If you need any help with insurance at all then please feel free to drop me a line. Regards, Dan.
  19. Ok so I had a look on facebook marketplace, I never used marketplace, haven't used facebook in years if I think about it. But I'm seeing a lot of IS250s for under £2.500, even the 3IS for around £2.200. Is there something I'm missing? Is there some unspoken rule you have to know when looking at facebook marketplace ads? EDIT: I think they're just fake or some scam. 3 out of 4 ads have the same description and the people selling them have 100+ cars listed
  20. Hello all and I hope your Lexi are doing well. Recently bought a new Lexus ct200h for the wife and have driven it on its first commute already: 250 miles to Portsmouth. Now, I'm a firm believer in selling a car in a better condition than how you bought it. Not sure if it always works out in reality, but one can try. Here's the new steed (can we use that term here!!) and whay might want doing/renewing. Oh, and I asked Dave at Lex Tec how much it would cost to keep the oil/filter services going so I can maintain a fuller service history as I can afford. £50 for oil/filter seems spot on so I may take that option to keep some FSH stamps going!! We'll see.. In no particular order... 1. Air con, needs regassing. Got it booked in at Kwik Fit for Monday and it seems a good investment. Cos' Care Care Nut (CCN) mentions how the temp range in the hybrid battery is so 'finicky'. 2. Wiper arms are a bit corroded. So at some point they'll need addressing with new uns and labour from a mech to get em slotted. Tried that on a Primera years ago and gave up. 3. Off side wing mirror has a little crack. Still works but could do with another shiny one. 4. Headlights look a little dull. My mate in Huddersfield who loves a bit of restoration of HLs will need to get booked in. Probably cost about £20 to £30 and outside the doorstep. Must remember to tell him to bring some 3M sealer and that I'll pay the extra!! 5. Learn how to do the filters. Especially cleaning the hybrid battery filter as CCN asserts how critical this service is to keep the life of the hybrid battery going. 6. Dunno... maybe lose the spare tyre/wheel if it has one and replace withtu a tubeless selant bottle from Halfords. I really want to maximise the range so it can pay for itself very soon... 7. Little bit of condensation in the rear light. I'm hoig it's just a vent that's blocked, but we shall see. 8. Add cruise control!! 9. The cat converter. It's a 2011 model so am hoping it's not as valuable. But coudl really do with make it less appealing to theives. Horble things that they are!!
  21. I had my tpms replaced 3 years ago as the batteries had packed in. I use a local mobile tyre fitter who cloned the originals the replacement sensors are Autel units and have been fine since then.
  22. Thinking about this a bit more. The cranking, whilst working didn't seem particularly enthusiastic, it does crank but I thought it was a bit sluggish. At IGN OFF the injector driver base plate is at 0v, Only with the ignition fully on does it see the 8.7v so most of the battery voltage is going straight to ground through the injector driver base plate. I've had a 12A charger connected whilst fiddling with Techstream and I had noticed it remaining at 12A for the whole duration. It normally steps down at it gets closer to a full charge. I've bitten the bullet and bought a scrappy replacement for £25 on Ebay. I'll be sure to sacrifice a chicken over the bonnet before starting up with the replacement driver installed. If this works, I'm going to disconnect the MAF and a bunch of sensors to see if I can invoke some error codes. The waterpump was changed more than 100 miles before the radiator went pop so that is at least 300 miles. Maybe coolant got in one of the plugs or some coolant crustiness grew after it dried out. A mystery.
  23. I have given up on Lexus now and have requested a settlement quote on my PCP deal and are going to have a test drive tomorrow on a new Non Lexus car, as their guide suggested a trade in figure within a £200 difference, so the timing is now right. I will not mention the car I am going after until my test drive.

  25. I agree. That's been my experience. Listers Lexus don't charge any extra for fitting or disposal of old tyres, so you do get tyres at a reasonable cost to start with. They'll also give discount on parts. Was recently quoted a cheaper price from lexus to supply and fit tyres than I did from my local tyre fitting garage based on the same tyre make and model.
  26. I'm not sure which bit the CPS is but I was thinking similar. I pulled the injector driver as that was all unplugged for the waterpump (over 200 miles of driving fine since). I saw a youtube video, a guy condemned the driver as the base had power. Just pulled mine away from the engine block and I have 8.7v on the base plate. Progress? Having 8.7v must be pulling the ECU and subsequently no injector pulse. Now...about those error codes..nothing. wtf
  27. I paid around £600 for the bumper, painted and fitted it myself. Installation process is the same on all years.
