Problems Filling Fuel Tank...

I've had problems filling my fuel tank since buying my Lexus in August.

The nozzle will constantly 'click' as if the tank is full and not let me fill it. The only solution I have found so far is to turn the filler nozzle upside down, this helps but does not cure the problem completely.

I do normally empty the tank quite alot before filling up again, quite often get the light coming on, but I still get the problem even if the tank is a quarter full or more!

Is this a generic problem with the IS, or just my car I haven't spoken to my dealer yet, had no real need to go back!

Any pointers will be appreciated!

hi mate, i think you will find they are all the same. i filled mine up yesterday and it took me ages. i normally hold the nozzle in the 2 oclock position i find this is the best :)

It is a generic problem, there have been a few suggestions discussed before, including holding the nozzle upside down or not inserting it all the way and having it at a slight angle.

Same as,Wifey has suggested keeping the nozzle as low down as possible,seems to work for me,will try it at the fuel station too next time!

Put the Nozzle about halfway in and push the handle down to the 25 past the hour position. Works a treat for me.

Some pumps are faster then others.

I find that holding the nozzle at 2 oclock ans not having it fully in helps.

I agree with this as that is the best way I have found to do it at most petrol stations. Also works at around the 8 oClock position

I think its a general problem - I always thought the same thing

I go for the 20-past or 20-to position (trickier as the flap gets in the way!), half-way in.

Works on GS, IS and SC.
