Yes that sounds strange as actual windscreen wash bottle and pump is located on passenger side, and it is easiest to access via wheel arch (alternative being - removing entire bumper and lights).

Maybe it is headlight washer pipe leaking or it is leaking on the tray and that drips on the opposite side? Other thing to check if the washer jet is not stuck, maybe you tried washing headlights and it just spayed inside if stuck.

Prob a pipe split ( possibly due to frost) or come adrift at some point, any work been done on car lately that may account for this?

Did it leak when the screen wash was not turned on? Because if it leaks with it off then the leak point is somewhere below the level of the fluid in thank but if it leaks when screen wash is activated then leak can be anywhere!

Not had frost for a few months here in london.

Remove all engine covers, fill tank to brim ( being careful not to spill any!) and get amongst engine bay with a strong torch and listen/look for source of leak ( water shows up very well when brightly lit)

as for not having frost for a ‘few months’ then this problem has only just come to light now then? I mean has it only started to leak now or have you only spotted it now! Lots of people haven’t been using their cars lately ( for some reason!)

Fault finding has to be done in a logic sequence to be effective, discount nothing and suspect everything and eliminate each in turn to end at the source of your problem,
