Speed limits could be lowered to 50mph on UK motorways to protect the environment

If 50 mph (80km/h) will be speed limit on highways (motorways), 30 on country roads and 10 - 15 in towns riding bicycle can be a lot faster. Electric bikes will then need a limiter so they cannot go faster and we can get fit on ordinary (not electric) bikes and drive faster than the rest. Government will then have an issue Iputting a limiter on us so we do not ride hazardous 20 mph (or faster) on our bikes.

If we ride too fast we will have to stop at next red signal anyway and use much power to get started again (no matter if on bike or in car) than if we follow the green wave. Here many roads are made narrower to make place for bicycle lanes and some like it more than others.

Funny how they never talk about the Ozone layer anymore (remember the rage in the 90s) it's since been replaced with Climate change!!!   😠

Skin Cancer increased because ozone layer is not blocking or protecting against UV-rays.

Not strictly true.

Like most things - multifactorial. Aging population due to increased life expectancy and improved access to healthcare, exposure to artifical UV lights i.e. sunbeds, genetics, increaseing culture to get a tan in the first place and also easier/cheaper travel abroad.

That is correct. It is not only the thin ozone layer that cause skin cancer, but it is part of it, maybe a major one.

Wind-shields on most cars are UV protected. The protection in the CT is more than 99% (have a measuring device); the side windows in most cars have no more UV protection than ordinary glass (very little or close to no protection) so many truck drivers have skin cancer in the arm that is exposed to sun. We have UV protective filter in all windows except the wind-shield in the CT, even in sun- / moon-roof. Toyota know of the problem and have been mentioning adding UV protection in all windows in 2000, but the CT which is made many years after that (2016) only have well protected wind-shield. Side windows have better protection than the VW Golf 2005 we had before but not enough to call the car UV safe.

UV is not only damaging skin, but also other parts inside the car, leather, plastic etc.
