GSF exhaust tip upside down?!

Recommended Posts

Now, I’m normally fairly observant, but after owning the car for 4.5 years, I’ve noticed that the lower of the two exhaust trims on the passenger side is upside down… how can I have not noticed this?

I’m hoping to jack the car up and have a proper look tomorrow - surely the tips aren’t welded on?

It’s never had any work on the exhaust in its life! Chances it left the factory like this? 😝

I was actually reading a thread about RCF tips last night on the US forum.  Seems they are just slid on and come off with a soft hammer.

Thanks!

Somewhat embarrassingly, yes, I have cleaned them, and didn’t notice! 🧑‍🦯

Think I just found the thread you mentioned @Jgtcracer. Looking forward to seeing how easy they hammer off!

Lol. You must have some older pics of the car or something, have you checked those?

No way it left the factory like that imo.

They do come off with some 'persuasion', took them off to clean whilst switching OEM system out for the GTHaus. I used a very heavy mallet, but used a block of wood to hit, with a tshirt scrunched up and taped to it to save the thin edges on the back portion of the tips. I used a heavy mallet so I could 'tap' lighter but it really needed a solid few whacks to dislodge.

Unfortunately, it’s been like that since I got the car, back in November 2018! 🙄😬
