just ordered a tunit pedal pro for my sc430 i have one on our rc300 h and the diff is night and day ...if the sc turns out as good as the rc,  i will be looking at becoming  an authorised dealer for them ...stay tuned

Have you tried the tunit performance chip on your SC430 I would be very interested in your opinions 👍

i would say it makes more of a diffence no need to switch etc i have just put one on a friends alfa guilietta 1.4 turbo that he has to put into dynamic every time he gets in the car to make it drive nice ....now is bam goes like the provebial ...

from the lexus forum in usa ." I just installed a throttle controller on my 2003 SC430 and all I can say is WOW! I've made quite a few modifications to the car and this was the easiest to install (5 minutes tops with no tools) and the best bang for the buck. Gone is the annoying throttle lag. It' like the car woke up from a nap after nine years. Way to go Apexi."

Was the one in the states a tunit product? I ask because when  I was on lexus world I wrote to tunit about their tunit performance chip, I was told by other site members they are useless etc anything that plugs into the obd port cannot  possibly improve performance I have had one on my car for 12 months and it appears to have made a difference to mine and that's all I will say, I will not pay for a dyno test as suggested by some because if it proved to have not altered my bhp I will be disappointed 👍

Hi Stewart, a throttle controller eliminates or reduces the throttle lag, it makes a significant difference to how the car feels, how it pulls away and upshifts but doesn't increase power. What did Tunit claim their product actually did to improve performance? Similar to All4swap but without re-mapping the ecu? Alter fuel/air ratio map to improve torque/bhp, change shift points, increase rev limit, etc?  

As discussed on the other forum, I doubt there are any real gains to be made without some physical engine changes. Cams, forced/improved induction or exhaust. If you are convinced performance has been improved, why not prove it to the doubters?🙂

They quoted my car as 300bhp???and said it would improve to 318 bhp I would like to let someone else try it and you would be best to evaluate it,however your car is already modified so may not be a fair comparison simple description small box with wire and plug  for obd port, download app from Tunit, takes a little while  to pair then you have  choice on phone of... eco standard sport and sport+ when you select your mode it optimises for a couple of minutes then you are ready to go, I would be happy to lend it to you to try and will post to you if you wish won't be using my car much over winter ,it does not  alter any of cars original settings just overrides them and leaves no trace once removed it has been on my car for 12 mths and not had any problems 👍

throttle controller from tunit DOES NOT go into the obd port it takes the place of the connection of the throttle through the tunit box (which is now bluetooth) to the cars ecu . the difference is as quoted above , it woke my car up . i have one on my rc which had the most dreadful throttle unless in sport mode to now totally changing the cars reaction time ... "reaction time " ......its the difference between a spint in wellington boots to running in running shoes .

I know where throttle controller goes! I do not have a throttle controller as yet I have  their performance box fitted to my OBD port, I do not want to say whether it works or not so people buy it and then are disappointed, when I bought it I got a good discount and have in fact had one fitted (toyota) to my rav 4 diesel for 16 years where it really does make a difference 👍Stew

If you look at the Link I sent it quotes sc430 2 as being 301 bhp I don't know why? My car is 285 according to handbook although I have seen 300 bhp for pre 2005 cars and 287 for post 2005 cars don't understand this or is there maybe a difference for usa cars? Paul your site name hondansxr have you owned one ?

When I had my BMW 335d I had a Superchips remap on it. You installed it or removed it by a device called Bluefin that attached to the OBD port. Looking at their website it looks like they also have a remap for the SC430. When I had the BMW I removed the remap to sell the car but the program crashed and really messed up the electronics on the car and it was undriveable. It was with the BMW dealership for over a week sorting it out. Fortunately the Service Manager is a friend of mine so I got it sorted for a low price.  The upshot is after that horrible stressful experience I will never entertain any sort of ecu mod again but I do have the SC430mods.com throttle controller as it doesn’t alter the cars main ecu.

Toyota ECUs of that age are not easy to remap in the way you can with a BMW. This won't achieve anything in an SC430.

Neither does the tunit throttle controller or their  power booster it does not alter any of the parameters set by Lexus and I have removed it many times without issue so far👍

There is a small group of specialists who collaborate on repairs, enhancements and conversions for UZ related projects (All4swap(RU), Phoenix (UK), CartuneCo (NZ) and Quantum-Auto (USA) and it seems they (LED by Yuri in Russia) have cracked the ECU and with other mods, offer various services and upgrades for UZ owners. Phoenix Engine Management in Shepton Mallet are primarily wiring specialists but they offer the remap via their contacts.  

I agree, I can't see how there would be any significant gains without other mods but for those of us with a few physical mods it might actually be beneficial. Without any measured evidence, I suspect that the improvements seen by owners of non-modified cars is mostly the reduced throttle lag included in the map offered but I could be wrong. 

Stewart, the 300 hp is likely to be the earlier quoted US power figure. They also reduced it to 290 bhp and 285 bhp and 282 bhp. the 2006 6-speed model is quoted at 279 bhp, I don't know if there were any subtle differences in the 3UZ over the years but I believe the difference in quoted power is everything to do with by what means and standards it was measured over time.

I hope everyone realises iam not trying to promote these, if Paul hadn't  said he had a tunlt throttle boos ter I would not have posted. Most of tunits claims are on diesel cars where they really make a difference  but we all know of cars with the same engine that produces more power in sport versions, this is usually just different ecu settings,as some of you know my nephew is #2 technician on Lewis's car and during the race or qualifying they can turn up the power remotely ? although there are 200 technicians at the track and another 1000 or so back at Brackley who permanently monitor the cars wherever they are in the world

An interesting statement, as another (with many many years experience in many different arms of motorsport)  has posted, on a different forum in response to a similar comment in connection with F1

A. "No they can't! Only the driver can alter the car settings via the steering wheel when it is on the circuit, so there is no way the engineers can play 'god' with the cars. They can only control (a limited number of things) when the car is hard wired in the pit box. The telemetry from car to pits is very strictly a one way system!"

As above the driver has to select one of the modes set up be the engineer but these are mainly adjustments to the peak rpm of the engine.

The official press releases for the initial launch and the facelift have the power at 282 bhp. Other countries, i.e. the US, will have slight changes to emissions compared to European cars hence the different in power. There are also differences in 0-60 mph (0-62 mph) and what power is actually quoted (e.g. hp, bhp, PS).

The facelift model did have a remapped ECU, mainly due to the transmission.
