Theft attempts with no success

I got a scorpion track 5 tracker fitted last week and it is not working properly with my hybrid (giving me Battery disconnected alerts) I get the company back to rectify it.

Seems it has to be fitted differently for hybrids - just something to be aware of.

Had a little differently with the Ghost 2 when fitted but now works a treat.

I think it is "Lexus" that has improved security in the later models rather the actual dealer doing something.

Correct, Lexus, rather than the dealer.

The guys on the RAV4 forum identified some passive warning stickers from eBay.  The seller also does a Lexus equivalent for those of you interested

Here's the post from the RAV4 forum https://www.toyotaownersclub.com/forums/topic/217157-ready-made-canbus-stickers/

My Lexus NX has been targeted via the front left wheel arch 4 times this week. It does not seem like they have been successful in entering the car yet.
Since the 3rd attempt I can no longer use the feature - find my car on the Lexus app.  Last night, I parked my car several roads away from my house but this morning I found the car targeted again.  This time more damage to the bumper and wheel arch.  I’m concerned they have been able to locate my car.  Is it possible that they are now able to track my car using the cars GPS somehow?

I have a ghost immobilser already fitted, and using a steering wheel bar.  Today I fitted a dash cam.

this is such poor design on the part of Lexus.  Not sure why they have not been able to gain entry yet.  Maybe the thieves are new to this.

any ideas what I should do?

Buy a sticker saying your OBD port is immobilized. (they're 2 pounds on Amazon)

Hopefully they stop damaging your wheel arch only to discover they can't steal your car anyway.

Oh dear, this thread makes depressing reading!

I specifically bought a sub £20k 2017 NX F Sport recently with the assumption that it’s old and (relatively) cheap enough to not be worth stealing. Looks like I was wrong.

What’s worse, we’re moving from Cheshire to the London/Essex borders this summer, probably multiplying the probability of theft.

I can't comment on how much this will cost to fix but please write to Lexus and tell them your NX was subjected to a failed CANbus theft.  According to a Facebook post that @Herbie linked to, Lexus are currently saying that NX is not being targetted.

My NX was stolen from Basildon last week on 13th March 2024 by CANbus. I'm so angry at Lexus, they have known about this since 2019 but left us all in the dark until it was aired on BBC Watchdog last week - ironically the same day mine was stolen.

Did your NX leave the factory before October 2021? According to Lexus, NX cars from October 2021 have a new security platform which they say means they can't be stolen via the CAN Bus method.

All the revised NX range (350h/450h) were equipped with the new security measures I am told so they were all produced from October 21.

Thanks Ken. So it's from the new current model of 350h/450h, not the 300h. Good to know. Let's hope the thieves also know it's not worth their while attempting CAN Bus theft!
