IS300h 2017 "Please consult dealer" message

Recommended Posts

Hi All,

Recently imported a Lexus (is300h 2017) and I cannot use the infotainment system as it displays a "Unable to load data, please consult dealer" message (in Japanese).

I personally don't care much about the built-in Navigation but want to use the system (for music, Bluetooth, calls etc). Also I believe it has the premium sound package the car has a mouse control and not a knob and there is no micro SD card with the car.

Has anyone faced this issue before? What are some possible solutions without going to the main dealer?

Hi Sullivan and welcome to the LOC.

Generally there is no easy or cheap way to sort these JDM issues out as Japanese standards are completely different to UK ones and dealers tend to shy away from any import versions.

Even if you managed to buy all the infotainment system components from a UK spec car they may still not work because of other differences, the Japanese ETC toll road components for example.

It may be better to replace the system completely with an android based unit which are available for your model and would certainly work out cheaper with more features like apple car play.

I did find this software update link but apparently it is for the USA not the UK but even that usually doesn’t change the language from Japanese.

I own a 2004 Toyota Celsior ( Lexus LS430) with only one FM radio station due to Japanese and UK standards, a sat nav for Tokyo and a very calming Japanese talking lady who makes occasional announcements over the sound system regarding my Electronic Toll Card.

Welcome to the quirks and anomalies of JDM ownership.

Thank you for your reply.

Regarding the option of installing an android unit. Would this type of screen work even if the lexus original software won't? https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005006030299323.html?spm=a2g0o.productlist.main.1.5fd5TN16TN16al&algo_pvid=d5f5141e-f128-4213-b3fb-be805625f420&algo_exp_id=d5f5141e-f128-4213-b3fb-be805625f420-0&pdp_npi=4%40dis!GBP!656.62!295.48!!!810.54!!%40211b441e17049344952148434ea7a6!12000035405071595!sea!UK!189044499!AC&curPageLogUid=QcKAEl4hnL5g&utparam-url=scene%3Asearch|query_from%3A
