Wheelarch protection tape ?

Featured Replies

  • Hello all, has anyone removed the protection tape on the rear arches as mine have a little dirt behind them and look unsightly I would like to replace them or is it possible to remove altogether and not damage paint ?

Does anyone have a link to replacement protection stickers as well if poss ?

I'm after same . One is peeling on drivers side rear

The film can easily be peeled off without damaging the paintwork if you heat it with a hair drier as you go along.  I did this on two pre-2016 ISs I owned, not in order to replace the film but because I found it useless as well as unsightly.

Yes.. You Would Think..!!

I haven't had to replace the tape on my car as it's only 3 months old, but if I had to do it I would use this type of tape from amazon.

ETOPARS Car Door Sill Trim Protector 10cm x 5m Transparent Car Door Edge Guard Protector Tape Clear Wrap Film Bumper Sticker Strip Anti Scratches Protective : Amazon.co.uk: Automotive

I have used it on my rear inner sills to protect against little peoples foot scuffs and it's pretty robust. It comes in different widths and lengths and is flexible, especially if applied properly. I applied mine quickly and straight off the roll due to the cold weather at the time, but the best way to do it is; cut to shape/length and soak in a warm solution of water and washing up liquid for a minute or so and then apply and use a credit card or similar to push out any bubbles.  To get the shape correct, I'd either remove the old tape and use that as a template, or make a template out of thin cardboard.

I doubt it would be wide enough, but in the past I've used clear Gorilla tape to protect the inner B pillar from scratches.

I did buy some Helicopter tape some years ago to protect a part of a canoe, but I never used it because the included instructions made it sound like a faff to apply

I have removed the tape/trims and buffed after removing glue and I like them as they are so I am not replacing them as I think it looks better.

Judging from the area of concentrated road muck, I suggest Lexus fitted these protective film panels as an alternative to mudflaps!

I have now fitted mudflaps and no longer get this effect.

Never seen it on a door rather than the wheel arch but I always assumed it was to minimise stone chip damage.

Mine has a small strip on the arch and a big piece on the door. Its starting to look horrible. I was considering alternatives but think i am just going to remove them being a white car. I think i did check with Lexus and i believe it was about £60 per side.
