I think an oil change is 4.2 litre with filter. A dry engine needs 4.6 litres. Would be a little bit more with a turbo because of the oil in the lines and turbo itself.

Thanks Colin mate :D

is it defo coming out the exhaust?

have you got an oil catch tank.?.....can i suggest you get one!, this may pin point a potential problem, blow by on the rings

what is the milage on the car, all im doing is guessing a problem maybe with valve stem seals, ...or worn rings, see point above

worst case, Turbo seals

2 Possibilities:

- Your turbo is leaking and oil is running into the exhaust housing

- One of the oil fittings on the turbo isn't really fixed, so oil is leaking on the turbo or header --> oil smoke

Make sure the oil bolts on the turbo are hard mounted.

I also had some oil on my turbo because of it.

I took a tool and mouted it harder --> leaking stopped B)

I don't have an idea where it should burn oil, when not there I told you.

Don't think it burns oil in the engine.....

Must be somewhere on or in the exhaust manifold or turbo.

I don't hope that oil is leaking inside the turbo.

Then you have a problem.

The CAT can be damaged and it's hard to fix that problem. :duh:

could the smoke not be a fuelling issue ?

if it is smoking when you release the accelerator, maybe fuel is still being applied

what colour smoke is it ??

Interesting question!! :whistling:

Yes marcus..... are you sure it's OIL SMOKE (blue-grey colored).

Or fuel (black-grey).

Or white??? Wouldn't be good..... ---> water!! :o

I also have a problem M8!

I can't raise the boost anymore.

With the BC duty I can get only 0.5bar at max.

When I turn it OFF it reaches only 0.3-0.4bar.

So it could depend on the wastegate or I loose air somewhere in the piping.

I think I found the problem.

In the gum-hose piping -> intercooler I found a very little hole and it's almost perforated with very tiny cuts in the surface.

Don't know if his can really cause such a lost of air.

I turned the boost up to 1.0bar (which would be dangerous for the stock internals) but the boost didn't come over 0.5bar.

So I hope this was the problem.

Otherwise I have to check the wastegate too.

And??

What's going on??

Problem fixed??  Do you have a non-smoker car finally?  :)

no mike im still working on it...............from my understanding of turbo,s is the oil should pass through the turbo at a rate of about "half gallon per minute" ;) well i think i have to much oil geting to the turbo...........and there for its not draining of right.............and when it dont drain right. it starts to work its way out the only way it can and thats through the seals ;) and thats what it is doing....................so what im going to do is put a pressure valve on the oil feed to the turbo............

let me know what you are thinking guys as i can do with some input on this :whistling:

Marcus,

Not got any advice (sorry) but congrats on getting her going.

I'm sure you will sort the problem out in next to no time  :winky:

Dave

Hi dave you back then mate did you have a good one :D

Matt im useing 1/2" to sump and the feed is 1/4" ;) but i still think there is to much oil geting to the turbo.................i will try the valve and see if i can slow the oil flow down............i will all so try 3/4" pipe to the sump.......put it this way i will try anything i can................. before i pull the turbo! as i dont think its the turbo...

i find it hard to belive 2 much oil is going to the Turbo.....unless it had its own oil pump... :D

where is your feed coming from for the Turbo?

is the drain not kinked, or running at very shallow angles
