Removal Of Sport Spoiler

Im trying to remove the standard sport spoiler as I have a new one to fit. I have removed the 3 nuts from inside the boot lid lining but its well stuck. I think its maybe been stuck in place with that double sided 3m rubber stuff they use. Is there such a thing as a release agent for the adhesive they use?

I need to get it off without breaking it as a replacement one is a bit pricey and I dont want to prize it off as it will damage the paintwork.

Your best bet woud be to use a heat gun or hair dryer. That should soften up the sticky stuff, then you should be able to carefully peel it off. Once it comes off, use meths or a similar remover to get rid of the left over crud it leaves.

I'm no expert by a long shot, but just as a suggestion..

Maybe you could try heating it slightly and then using dental floss to gently cut through the adhesive.

put the car in there for an hour, then try to remove it...... :winky:

best i can suggest would be to swap it for one without a spoiler :)

I think the dental floss idea might work. I will give it a go.

I need to take it off cos ive got a very nice high level carbon pilon one for it. goes well with the rest of the car.

the Bodyshop oven..........works, thats what the dealers do

You will have to use heat/oven to get them off lads :D i seen necromax boot when someone had a go at getting his off was not nice, he had to get new boot lid in the end :duh:
