Had A Crash!

£4k repair bill, plus the hire car, recovery etc etc - it soon adds up.

I think the roof was the big problem - panels are easy enough. There is no structural damage either - A-pillars are as straight as a die.

Car is prob only worth £6500 privately anyway - on an 02 plate but had 53k on the clock.

I am expecting an offer of £5k then the argument.

Wow can't believe how many crashes there have been, first a season of thefts, now a season of crashes, and somehow I've been part of both

Your car looks very similar to how mine did, so prob around the £4.5K mark to repair, hope you get it sorted soon :)

Sorry to hear of your crash - glad you are both OK - and the deer

I have a standard '99 back-box you can have (oh and some std SE springs if you need 'em :hehe: ).

Just got a phone call today, cost of repairs is estimated at just under 9k :blink:

Basically, its going to be written off. Thanks for all the offers guys, but I guess I don't need to take you up on them now. I appreciate the support greatly though.

*Sigh* Well, I guess the search starts for a new car again.

£9k :o that sounds like a hell of a lot, mind you I'd be quite happy with it being written off, not ideal in any situation but sometimes the lesser of 2 evils.

had some bad experiences with body shops some years ago

I was coming home from somewhere late last night and was approaching a blind corner. Road conditions weren't too great, pretty wet and dark. Just as i was exiting the corner, a deer ran out onto the road infront of me - I instinctively swerved out of the way onto the otherside of the road and lifted off at the same time (bad move) and started to lose the back end, so I countersteered the other way still off throttle (bad move again). The tail snapped back the other way, the car swapped ends and I went backwards off the road, up a kerb, into and over a roadsign and down into a 6 foot deep ditch.

The good news in all of this is that me and my friend in the car were both unharmed as it was a relatively low speed accident. No-one else was involved either. The bad news is that the whole back end of the car is buckled, the spare wheel is wedged in the well and the rear right wheel is now pointing in towards the centre of the car at about a 5 degree angle. I expect it to be written off really, which is where I could do with some opinions of people in the know.

Its a 1999 T reg SE with 36k on the clock. The insurance say that if the repair bill will cost more than 60% of the value of the car then it will be written off. Add me to the list of crashees!

Im absolutely gutted, but at least no-one was injured.   :crybaby:  :crying:

I saw a IS200 s in a dealership near southend going cheap and there are plenty of nice one still about so all is not lost, maybe you could buy it off the insurance company and sell the decent parts on eBay whilst you look for a replacement, remember mate you and all your pasagers are still here!
