Annoying Problem

Recommended Posts

only a small, but very iritating problem: ever since my 60k service, the in-car ventitilation option on a/c unit turns to default whenever I turn on engine! normally, it always used to default to 'through' air or whatever it is called...

any way of changing this manually to default to through air (as it means i have to flick it to this option every time i turn on engine) or will i need to take to garage?

cheers :)

Do you mean it's on "recirculate" instead of "fresh"?

The only time it selects recirculate itself is if the interior temp is a lot different to the climate temp setting e.g. it's set to 20, but inside the car is 30 deg - setting to recirc helps it cool down quicker.

Is that what you're getting or something else?

I get the same behaviour, during very hot days, with A/C on and temperature set to 18, when I start the engine, it sets automatically to 'recirculate', I guess that's the way it is supposed to operate in order to prevent hot air to get into the car.

this is an automatic feature, and by the sounds of it, i do believe it is working correctly.

after starting the engine, move the climate control to the opposite end of the dial, and see if it "auto" changes to fresh air...

This will happen when the temp setting is set to it's lowest. The car will struggle to get to below 20c if you don't have it on recirc. leave it set to 20C and it will remember what you last had it set to.

Personally, I just drive withhe windows open :P

Perhaps its a 2001+ change as I have to set it to recycle manually when starting my car on a very hot day.

Could be bud, mine automatically recirculates at the moment until the temp comes down - it's a 2000 X vehicle so got some changes from yours....

mine is a V plate '99 and sometimes when it is really really hot ie above 38C/40C it sometimes swaps between fresh and recirc for about 30 secs which is highly annoying. I found a swift hit to the aircon panel returned it back to normal.
