Difference Between Turbo And S/c

Recommended Posts

just wondered what the difference in power/peformance is between a turbo and a supercharged IS200????

am i correct in thinking that a s/c will deliver approz 50BHP (as standard) and a turbo will produce slightly less (unless upgrades are fitted??).

cheers,

rob

Yes you will get 50bhp with s/c, turbo gives more bhp :D but i dont get what you mean = unless upgrades are fitted ? you can get the turbo kit from prolex with everything you need or have them fit it for you. :D

Both s/c and t/c will still be the same top end speed, as that down to the gearbox :D you just get up there faster :D

so why is it that the turbo provides more power than the s/c?

The turbine spins at 150K rpm which converts fluid energy into mechanical energy more efficiently that the supercharger, which converts mechanical energy into mechanical energy.

In other words, a turbo blows more air into the engine than the supercharger.

When driving the car mate there is a hell of a difference between the two.

The car pulls alot more with the turbo fitted. Plus you've also got the sound when the turbo spins up and the blow off valve.

The s/c does sound great also but imo the turbo spinning sounds much better.

I loved the s/c when i had it. It makes a great difference to the standard IS and is a lot of fun. :D The s/c is a must, its soooooooo good :driving:

But the turbo is better :winky: :driving:
