I have personnaly only heard good things about the k&n for my car, cant be much different for other 1s - the more cold air you can get into the engine the better :)

I dont think the IS300 filter will work as Martin tried it out in his, there were problems with cold starts due to the position of the sensor in the intake (iirc).

The new version and old version are shown below:

The new version might work with the GS300, but I think you would need to ask K&N for a definative answer.

I have the basic K+N replacement filter in mine.

What sort of differenc to power and and noise does the type above make.

And if I were to tell insurance co, does it make a big difference tp the premium - has any only actually declared it ??

You would realy need some sort of heat sheild for those filters, as it just going to suck up hot air from the engine which isnt a good thing! (not really a problem in this weather tho, :)

As Jiberjaber said, the original induction kit for the IS300 doesn't work well on the GS300 (guess who he bought his kit from!), the car would fire up fine but pulling away you'd swear you were trying to tow away the whole street in one go. Don't know about the new kits, but I assume the pipe is the same diameter so would have the same issues.

Haven't bothered with a drop-in filter, kept the standard one (the only modification to my air intake is a HID ballast stuck on the side of it!)
