My advice is to get the same one that is offered by your ISP. That way, any problems and you can call their support. They may also give you a good price :)

linksys or buffalo .... cheap and does the job.

Agreed! The company that does alot of the networking for the places I work in always use and recommend Buffalo. I too have had a Buffalo WGB54 for 3 years now and not had any issues. Harder to setup then the competition, but once working not had an trouble. Netgear I've found is good too.

I quite fancy getting this one next:

Pricy, but from the reviews it sounds like its worth it.

Trouble is that your laptop won't support the propriety technology that Buffalo use to get its extended range so you won't get all the benefits, howeverI think it looks nice too.... ;)

I have had 3 Netgear routers, 1 wired and 2 wireless and never a problem. Easy to set up, don't forget to add a WEP key or the neighbours can hop onto your broadband for free.

Neighbours are still in the stone age and still believe in hunting their food LMFAO

So i guess i am safe but will do just in case one of them has inspiration.

dont buy Dlink, My old Dlink router used to overheat and shutdown after about 2hours of operation. Total waste of money!. To setup the router was hard work aswell. If you are going to buy one i would say go for a belkin or 2wire. I have a 2wire router and belkin wireless adapter on every computer.

They setup a treat and has never gone down, and i have been using it for over half a year without turning it off(the router is constantly connected to broadband).

Im trial testing 11Mbps broadband for BT :D

I too have Netgear in the Hotel and it reaches pretty far with an additional aerial. I agree about the WEP key. It is possible for neighbours quite far away from you pick up your broadband or even anybody parked nearby.

I found that ebuyer.com quite dear partiban.

Yep, it varies, different shops are cheaper for different things, something like froogle or pricerunner will usually quickly find who's cheapest :winky:
