Engine Swap From 1g-fe To 3s-ge!?

Recommended Posts

Hi, it´s like this.

I´m thinking of a swap from my 1g-fe to a 3s-ge. So, what I´d like to know is how mutch problems there going to be with the electrics? And what of the existing parts in the enginebay works/not works with the 3s-ge? And what would be the biggest hazzle?

The reason for not just buying an rs200 is that I live in Sweden and don´t want to drive on the wrong side :P . And a sc is out of the Q because my tranny is about to call it the day and the engine have rolled over 110000km. I´m extemly greatful for all the help i can get!!

The engine I´ve been looking at is complete with:

-Block

-Complete Head

-Intake Manifold

-Throttle Body

-Power Steering pump

-Lower Engine/transmission harness

-Cam Angle Sensor

-Bell housing bolts

-Exhaust Manifold

-Alternator

-Starter

-Fuel Rail

-Injectors

-Canister

-ECU

-6 Speed Transmission

- Engine Wiring Harness (UN-CUT)

-Misc Parts

Edit: Found it :P.

But I couldnt understand if theres a simple swap from the 1gfe to the 3sge, how mutch modification will i need to get the electric bits to work? Is it the hole loom or does the 3sge ecu work togehter with the existing loom from in the is200? Really gotta sort this out and theres no one in Sweden that I know of that can help me, so all the help I can get is worth gold to me.

isnt the 3s-ge an mr2 engine?? the standard is200 lump has only a few horses less, surely the straight 6 has better potential

Yeah, the MkII, i think. Also found in the Altezza RS200, pushing 200BHP. Think they also in some Celica's?? might also be in a few other cars, but thats the only one I seen it in.

Silly question would the MR2 turbo be a simple (ish) conversion......... there are more of them around than S/C's.

I dont see why not if your prepared to put in the work/money.

But if your doing that why not just got for the 2JZ-GTE of the Supra TT?

I have an mr2 turbo that needs a sligh re-build (Head and big ends) and that would be cheeper than buying a supra and stripping that.
