Help - My Alarm Keeps Going Off

I've owned my GS for a year now, and the alarm has never gone off.

Parked the car in the same place behind my flat as I always do, and the alarm went off 3 times last night (every couple of hours or so). I checked and the windows and doors are all shut.

Any ideas why it's going off so much all of a sudden?

It's just gone off again, and I looked outside and can't see anyone or anything near the car that might have caused it.

Are you near any mobile Phone masts?

I had some problems similar to yours and it was because the people who look after a phone mast near to me had cut a tree back next to the mast so the tree wasn't soaking up the radio waves from it thus making said waves stronger and interfering with the remote fob and the alarm system

Bloody annoying when you don't know!

One other thing may be reduced Battery efficiency causing a voltage dip and setting it off. This time of year we use more of the electric bits so if the Battery isn't top notch to start with it may be struggling to cope.

Same as Fluff.......Had a Rover where unless I closed the vents, on windy days/nights the alarm went off due to air flow through the vents......Not had a problem with the IS though.

There is a adjustable box mounted under the arm rest box that you can turn down the sensitivity of the alarm .. remove the surround around the gear lever the push the powerpoint socket tru in to the box remove the 2 ten mill bolts in the box under the arm rest to access the alarm control box

WOW!! Sounds like fun.

I think Maneesh's is just that his is inadvertently set to 'Pimp alert'?And senses his prescence.

Don't have this problem storing cars in a locked garage!

Do you have any more info on this procedure as mine still goes off at random?

Is the above procedure for a IS or GS

Thanks

Paul

I'll wager a fiver I know why it keeps going off.

Right about the volumetric sensor near the centre console. It is prone to false trigger from anything heavily metallic in eaither of the two trays. Remove any loose change, MP3 players, cameras, spare batteries (which is what caused mine to go off) and so on.

Any useless information - just ask away!

Cheers Mike I will give that a try,

I currently have some change, a spare camera Battery and a key ring along with a load of other junk, will take those items out and see what happens

Thanks again
