Tax Disc Phone Arial

Anyone seen those mobile phone kit arials that act as a tax disc holder... very neat and very popular apparently.. £25

When I had my car kit fitted the guy said he didn't recommend them as they are nowhere near as good as the traditional glass mount antenna's. I don't know how true that is.

Tax disk arials aren't new at all, had one on my old car two years ago and it was fine, one advantage is that its generally going to be low down on the windscreen, so don't need to run the cable so far.

In my IS200 they fitted a small flat stubby arial that was just taped up near the rear-view mirror at the top of the windsreen, pretty hard to notice it.

Both seem to work just fine, and are quite subtle, probably not much difference in perfromance between the two types, the place that did my lexus didn't even do the tax disk type.

If by the bee sting arials you mean the one that pokes out like the one already on the IS200, then I would imagine they are a lot more hassle and rather noticable, how many arials would you want poking out anyway???

Either way with the car kit you are going to be improving the radio performace of the phone anyway, depends how much you really think it needs improving......

I had a tax disc car phone aerial fitted to my last car. It worked perfectly, just as good at an external one. :D

If I had the choice, I would have gone for the same aerial in my Lexus. The car kit was already fitted in the Lexus when I bought it and so didn't see the point of changing it.
