The Monster......

WELL THERE WILL BE ALOT OF ANNOYED PEOPLE, AND MIFFED PEEPS............

Several people were assured at last years JAE it would be ready soon.......ive had 4 magazines waiting over a year now to feature the car :excl:

i spoke to mark the other day, he said that by the end of next week he should be able to give me a completion date..............

id like to think so

So if Mark gives you a completion date next week that will leave five weeks to achieve completion, then to get the car back to Germany carry out additional work, complete all the paperwork and get the car back to the UK ready for JAE and magazine photographers.

Have you worked out how many hours work you have to do on it when it is back in Germany?

Hey if all else fails I'm sure me, spanner man, sore **** and big bones can make a trip over to provide you with the right skill sets :D

well the bonnet and vent are now one..........i need to start the filling and then paint it.

ive started making the "Super secret Squirrel" part for the air intake(the one mark knows nothing about.......and doesnt need to, it dont affect anything TDI have done)

i need to remove the side skirts fitted at the mo, and fit my New ones, i need to modify, Paint, fit/bond the new arch Kit. for this.......i obviously need the car

need to paint/fit and bond the roof spoiler

and fit the bonnet, when finished, all in all i have about 20hours of work to complete

my main wish is that i can kill 2 birds with one stone, in that on the Trip to the UK i can bring back the Race Car, and then on returning (before JAE) I can bring back the Monster and get these bits done to it........

then drive back with the Monster after deregistering it here, and re-register it in the UK where it will live, with the race car untill i am posted back to the UK sometime pretty soon.

so hopefully.........a busy 6 weeks ahead!! :shifty:

Yep, I agree.

if this car even makes it to JAE (UNDER ITS OWN STEAM) id be supprised, maybe TDI like there work trailered to shows like it was last year i see from the pictures.

ITS ALMOST COMICAL.

16 months nearly :excl::excl:

theres doing a bit on the side, but i have read back over posts this time last year, and TDI were saying that this car "could" be at last years JAE.

I notice TDI dont even comment on this Project very much anymore, Where are the Latest pictures?, or even the Video of it running :)

is it running?

You may not like the comments that i leave or others, but if you Keep us informed, as we are ALL intrested then maybe if we know whats going on, we can keep our thoughts to ourselves.

im actually disapointed, as i am sure many others will be when once again this car doesnt make a show.

as for what matts thoughts are at loosing a 2001 car for nearly 2 years.

hmmmmmmm, You have had the car for longer than its been owned by matt

I AM COMING TO JAE,

And heres a nice little Quote from last year.

will it be ready for jae!!

I hope so.

There are still quite a few mountains to climb yet but we are getting there.

:)

GETTING THERE, thats what British Rail said in the 1970's

Now knowing TDI a dam sight better, there will be 2 reactions to this post.

1, ignore it, the club members dont need to know

2, come back with the comment " refer to my earlier post Spyshot"

both are the reaction of someone who doesnt really have the answer :winky:

I have been reading this thread for an awfully long time and I personally think that it has become beyond a **** joke. I am no expert in car mechanics etc but even I know that this has gone on long enough.

I really don't know why Mat is being so patient about it all? I would be fuming at the time it has taken. :crying: I guess Mat has some agreement with TDI, but....what is taking so long now? :o Obviously you can tell me to mind my own business, but as you have chosen to publicly talk about this project on the forums then you should also expect reactions (both good and bad) to the work being carried out.

I hope the car will be ready in time for JAE. From mats posting on this thread, it sounds like he has lots to do before the JAE weekend and I really hope Mark doesn't spoil all the fun.

From TDI's point of view, it will be in their interest to get this car to the show (in full working order :whistling: ). Just think of the publicity they will get, not only will there be thousands of jap car enthusiasts there but also leading car mags. B)

Come on Mark and the team at TDI, get your fingers out of your ****s and lets the the Monster on the road. ;)

have to agree with the others that are expressing "concerns" over the recent lack of any info and the total lengh of time that this has taken - its getting stupid now.

or is it a case of " just a few minor probs to overcome"???

No way should it have taken this long - i appreciate the basis that this project was started under but how long has it been???? - TOO LONG!

All i can say is that mat must be the most patient person in the world, i would have lost it ages ago, picked up the car ( in whatever state) and done it myself - in fact think mat could have done it himself quicker by himself in his workshop! ;)

yeah, and to me it doesnt realy reflect well on TDI themselves. I know they have some great workmen there. But they are advertising this conversion on the web site! now i am seriously considering an engine transplant of some kind (money dependant) and at the moment i would be staying far far away from TDI. I couldnt afford to be without the car for so long. Also after watching that Rod millen V8 conversion im left feeling that it didnt take them nearly 2 years and that was a super dooper electronic nightmare.

Maybe matt should send it over there for the final tweaks!

hi!

i haven't read all the last posts in this thread, but i know that the monster is not ready yet. and i keep asking myself: why?!

it's been 1 1/2 years now. let's say one hour, just one hour work on the car every day...what are they doing with it? this is very sad in my eyes...sorry. but a quite decent good tuning company in germany would have finished at this point of time...and if not: at least they would have a VIDEO OF THE MONSTER by now. did they mess up? is the car destroyed? mat: have you seen it since? does it only have 300 hp?

sad that it costs so much money...i mean "donating" my car to a company that definitely makes profit with it (just imagine the advertisement out of it)...

by now it should better have at least 700 hp...

I think a lot of people that are quick to blame TDI haven't a clue on the size of the project undertaken by them, yes to transplant a engine is easy but when you have the list of parts/mods requested by Mat to make it what it is...the Monster, and all the specialist making/fabrication of things, just to make them fit in the IS engine bay,how many of you have actually seen it!!!!!,and how many of you have seen or looked into the wiring of the IS again this is VERY complex, yes we're all good at tarting our cars up with a little bit of bling, but this project is an enormous one,yes in the early days i too was miffed at why its taken so long but i've seen it and all the parts that have been made, and yes Spyshot i have heard it running....take a trip to TDI and im sure Mark will accomodate you and may even start it for you.Dont forget TDI have had a lot of staff problems too over the last year, good expert technicians are a rare breed.

My opinion now is that it will be ready when its finished and i will still look forward to it.......however long it takes.

i don't think anybody is taking a trip to TDI to see it running...there was supposed to be a video weeks ago. that would be much easier...am i right?...or am i right?

TDI having staff problems is jack **** to do with the customer, in this case it's Mat.

I suspect when Mat dropped off his car at TDI they must have assured him that they were technically capable of carrying out this huge 'transplant'.

Not having enough staff is not Mat's fault, he should have had his car back at the agreed time.

TDI promised Mat that the car would be ready at last years JAE, it's now nearly one year on and still no sign of it finished.

I personally think TDI are taking the :tsktsk: out of Mat and it's not on.

Glad to hear that it starts up...... :P

Will it be ready for this years JAE?.....that is the question everyone is asking now. B)

I'd expect more from a club moderator dissing a club sponsor!!!

I'm not defending Mark,TDI or his staffing problems, just the size of this project, especially as some of the members post "how do you change brake pads or change a spark plug"obviously clueless,so to expect those types to understand is a bit too much to expect really....

I'm not trying to 'diss' TDI at all. I'm just frustrated as are many others with the time it is taking to get this Monster on the road.

I know TDI are great at what they do. I have never personally had any work done by them but I have seen many club members cars after having work done at TDI and they are excellent.

I have a lot of respect for Mark and TDI for the work that they do. In no way am I doubting their abilities or technical expertise. TDI have been a club sponsor longer than I have been a forum member. I doubt that they would have continued to be LOC's number one sponsor if they were doing something wrong.

Look at Mat's previous few postings, it's clear to see by all that he has a lot to do before JAE. I think Mat has been patient long enough and he's obviously more excited than the rest of us to see the Monster ready for JAE.

I think an update from Mark at this point would be nice..... :)

As a contracts manager for a large fitout company i would be ashamed that if i promised that my work would be done by a set date and it wasnt etc etc. I would lose my company its reputation that it has created. But if you stand up and admit there is a problem then people are more accepting. But blaming it on staff levels is a no no. People pay for a service and at a premium. They dont give a $%^& about staff levels they just want the job done and their product. Its a rule of buisiness.

I bet tho when the car comes out that all the time it has taken will make it all worth the wait. But its now etched into the minds of a lot of potential customers the problems that have occured here.

I think the TDi PR man has to come out and recify this, and put peoples minds to rest.
