Help Required - Fellow Member

Recommended Posts

Hi there I was wondering if anyone can help,

One of our good members is in a bit of bother with one of his IS200's. Basically, the car hasn't been used for some time and as a result the car will not start. Apparently the key fob Battery isn't at fault, it's the actual car Battery.

He has a Battery charger, but can't access the lever inside the car to open the bonnet!

Can anyone provide any suggestions or advice please?

Thanks,

Jamie

wedge the front door open..

get to boot release..

release it..

fold seats down..

climb in.. and open the doors.

where is this member, i might be able to give him a hand.

I have a long bit of wire which i used to get into my sisters car when she locked the keys in..

also ive done an accord and a civic before that :D

Won't the key still open the doors?

If the car is dead-locked (when the button has been pressed twice), I don't believe you can do this.

I thought the key will always be able to open it, the dead locking stops the internal buttons and levers working so that if the windows are smashed, the doors still can't be opened.

The car has an external power point..... normally under one of the inner wheel arch guards, the plug-in supplies power to the central locking.

He will need to contact the AA-RAC who have the authorized equipment and indeed authority to open the doors.

Two points there pal:

1. Wouldn't want to damage the door.

2. The rear seats in the IS don't fold down.

Ive done it acouple of times, never managed to damage the door..

I have tho scuffed some paint which goes around the opeing of the door..

didnt know the seats dont fold.. :o

The only other way would be to take the grill off, and break the ... welding joints of the bonnet catch..

or pull the lever that opens the bonnet.

The key should still unlock the drivers door if i remember but wont unlock them all due to no power from the battery? the only other thing i can think of will it unlock the boot and try and get a rod or something to lean through the ski hatch and open one of the rear doors?

always thought this was the case..

Yes if the car has been deadlocked then the levers and stuff is usless.

Just phoned and asked him and he's already tried the key and that isn't working!

Jamie

What is the lock doing when he turns it? If it isn't turning, maybe that is due to the barrel not being turned probably ever. I've had this before because the fobs mean people hardly ever turn the key in the lock and they corrode. I find it hard to believe that any car that has keys (not a keyless entry) would lock someone out when they have the key.

Okay, just had a phone call from him to say that he's managed to get in the car.

His words were, "The benefits of having a skinny sister". He's pushed her through the ski hatch lol

I'm sure he'll be along later to embarass himself :)

He also thanked everyone for their input.

Cheers,

Jamie

never thought of that one! :shutit:

one to write down!

the key should still open the drivers door irrespective of dead lock or not - i assume he has a later model IS?? mine is an earlier model and it deadlocks all the time - my Battery goes flat every now and then due to little use but u can still open the drivers door with the key no probs.

oh there is no external power socket behind mudflaps/arch liners on the is200
