Heated Seats

My friend was sat in the passenger seat on saturday night an they where complaining that there bum was cold from being sat on a wall. So i thought i'll wack on the heated seat and sort it out but they said that they couldnt feel it getting warm and i couldnt feel it to touch.

I am going to test it tomorrow but if it has stopped working what could it be? and is there any way of fixing it?

Fuse obviously.

Could be the switch in the seat. Does the seatbelt light flash when someone is on it?

Then I would check to see if there is a voltage getting to the cabling at the seat.

Wouldnt the fuse be for both seats? drivers side is still working.

I am pretty sure the seatbelt light still flashes when someones in the seat.

Yes - just checked, its only one 15A fuse for both. I thought they were split circuits.

Had anything in the car that's gone under and maybe dislodging the wiring connector?

Check the connector to the seats? if its anything like a Saxo airbag wire, someone sitting in the back can kick it out quite easily.

theres no link between the flashing seat belt light and the heater unit, as mine light never flashes and the heated seat still works.

im going with a loose connector under the seat!

Another idea Rik is swap your heated seat switches round as the one might not be working?? :)

Could be worth a try matey as it might not be making full contact when pressed in and it eliminates it from your search plus its free to do and only takes a minute or two :D

Must vary between models - your heater comes on with no-one sitting on the seat? What year is it?

Mines the same as Vykers, mines a 2000 V plate and works when no ones sat on the seat?

They did the same with the heated mirrors if you remember. Bet they changed the same time.

As for the connectors under the seat, sorry mate - no idea! Never taken one off to be honest. If you can't feel it, take a few upside down/underneath photographs with a camera and you might be able to spot something you can get a better feel for.

With the switches, you should just be able to pull the holder forward and it pops out. (it held in with soft clips). The connectors just clip off the back of them by pushing down on a plastic latch type thing in the centre of the connector itself.

just press palm of ur hand onto the tray the switches are in and pull it out.

Had a quick look at trying to get the switches out but there is nowehere to put your fingers behind the switches to pull it out!

Have you got the housing out? Once this is out you can just swap the connectors at the back of each switch.

If you get your hand underneath, sort of push up and pull toward you at the same time. Here's a pic of it out. (ignore the round switch, that is off another project)

as i said mate PUT YOU HAND UNDERNEATH THE TRAY, PALM SIDE UP PRESS AGAINST THE TRAY AND THEN PULL THE TRAY OUT its very easy

That what i am going to try Rob thanks i just wasnt sure if there was supposed to be somewhere to put my fingers to pull it with thats all. Shall let you know how i get on.

no mate nothing to hook your fingers into - it slides out really easily, if its hard use both hands but i have never had any probs removing this piece.

Do you know where the connector is under the seat Rob?

Only 2 connectors under the seat, 1 is airbag (yellow I believe).
