Pointless Facelift?

Recommended Posts

I read somewhere about post facelift IS200's having the MPG gauge in a different place to pre-facelift models. Didn't really think anything about it at the time, but I just thought, WHY???????? It occurs to me that this may well be the single most pointless facelift 'modification' since, well, ever! I know they did other stuff as well but I'd just love to know why flipping a couple of dials found it's way into the facelift. Can anyone shed any light?

I think the gauge is in the same position, just that the needle goes in the other direction.

It prob does read better/easier having the needle go up instead of down......but there you go.

The whole MPG gauge just seems pointless to me, I mean when you accellerate it drops to about 10mph whether you floor it or just accellerate gently, and when you are coasting / remove your foot it just goes right up to the top end of the gauge.

An 'average MPG' would have been more usefull, I spent the first few weeks of ownership gasping at how crap the MPG was until I gave up reading the gauge. lol
