Seeing the pics makes me wish even more I'd gone. But I really couldn't make it, it wasn't that I just decided I couldn't be bothered. Looks like a great time was had by all. Would be good if there could be more Lexes next time !

Yeh i know what your saying Steve, One of the main reasons i dont take mine on, is incase i damage my car as i just cant afford to replace it at the moment if i did do some serious damage to it :crybaby: but maybe next year if things pick up i'll invest in another car and then have a go at it as its one of the things i'd love to do :D

I took mine on the track and if i had crashed it i couldn't afford to replace bits, i think thats maybe why there where so few Lexi there??? People don't have to go round like nutters and force themselves to over do it, i pushed it as much as i felt needed but im sure i could have pushed it more!!!! I have gained better knowledge of how my car handles in the wet and controlling it when it does go a bit sideways, days like this give you the oportunity to see what the limitations are of the car in a safe Environment, and there was plenty of run off if things did go wrong!

Yeah if I'd have taken my Lex, I'd have probably come last time-wise

I can't imagine I'd suddenly have transformed into a banzai nutter and crashed my car (at least, I like to think that would be the case !), but it would be interesting to actually go onto a track and see how the car feels.

Who knows though, maybe with a crash helmet on, the red mist would have descended

the whole point of the day was to be able to drive your car in a way you felt safe with, in a safe environment, there were no prizes for the most damaged or for the fastest

one of the great lessons you learn is how to control your car and its limits and your limits, probably 80% of drivers drive way below their cars limits

yesterday was an example of how with slippery wet conditions no accidents occurred and everyone went home in the same way they came

your example of 2 hour hold ups on the M11, highlight that accidents can and do occur everyday on the roads,

accidents are very rare on track days, and normally there is only one person to blame

It would be great to see more lexus out there, the cars are quite capable,, as you have shown, and as the Toyota Aygo has shown us all year

:)

Maybe something more in the midlands next time? (ie north of Birmingham) and we could get a few more members?

think this place was level with birmingham just a bit to the east.

Gordon came from Manchester only took him 2 hours............

But TBH I can't see more than 3/4 bothering to come anyway

If i can drive for 4 hours and over 200 miles to get there then surely most other people would have to drive less miles! I left my house at 4am to get there for 8 and spent the hole day driving and then drove home, all on my own. At the beginning of the day i had second thoughts about actually turning up because the weather looked crap and i really couldn't be bothered to drive all that way...............but once i had done a few laps i was loving it and couldn't get enough, hence the 24 runs i did.

I think people shouldn't be put off by thinking they need to push their cars to the limits because as barrie has said you DONT!!!! I went away with a better understanding of handling my car and had great fun and thats what track days are about, the only let down of the day was the fact that there where no other lexus (other than dave) on the track. Even Chris and Aztec turned up to watch and i think that was enough to get them interested in joining in next time!?!?!?

Its more north than Birmingham !

Its level with Derby , how much more Midlands do you need it ?, any more and it would be in Scotland :P

put it in the Midlands and guess what ! majority of people turning up were Southerners :whistling:

results: from LOC members

Gord 67.660 5th place overall

PaulT 73.700

Dave 68.440

Bazza 68.080

Jon C 66.630 2nd place overall

Jason 74.090

overall results:

1st 62.740

2nd 66.030 (Jon C)

3rd 67.110

4th 67.350

5th 67.660 (Gord)

WELL DONE TO ALL !!

as a comparison, times obtained at Barkston on a dry track

Gord IS200 S/C......67.03

Dave Aristo.............63.56

Bazza Aristo............63.66

Dave IS350 S/C......62.089

Bazza Starlet.......... 61.489

so you are looking roughly at 6-7 seconds difference between wet and dry

so Jason could be looking at a 67 second run in the dry :whistling:

the lap record is (I believe) held by Adrian from Fensport at 52 seconds in the GT4 Corolla

Its always nice to see you at meets Chris and you are an example in dedication to us all! I was very tempted to take up the spare place available when Raj dropped out (found out at about 6pm Saturday) but on reading the guidelines it said their should be nothing loose in the car - I have most of the Aristo dash out (running some wires!) so it was too short notice and the BMW I wouldn't have been happy taking without some new brake pads. I hope to do it next year if it is on! :D

Already thought about that on the way home Dave and im about 80% yes at the moment, even if i finish last in every event i get to do some great tracks at a dirt cheap price!!!! and i will be able to get the car to a level i want. As discussed before i want to keep it N/A but get it to handle on rails with maybe a little more power :P

would be great to see you entered.

You'll get a lot of press attention and have a good laugh

get your Toyo tyres ar trade prices as well...........

your main gain will be lightening the car............look for lightweight wheels.............you can get some that are 4kg each..............power to weight ratio.............way to go

bit of a budget buster but alloy front brake calipers are a good idea ...also give you bigger rotors to brake later & herder.............harder even...........

Think i may just do it then Dave! :)

What do i need to do to register? and when is the first dates so i know when to be ready by? Don't think budget will stretch to bigger brakes yet but i can start looking for parts and loosing weight now!
