Do You Use Super Unleaded/v Power?

Does it make any difference with the IS or is it just better to run it on normal unleaded?

swings and roundabouts I believe mate, I haven't noticed any different in using super/premium versions of fuel on a stock IS, I don't think there will be a difference unless you are running silly BHP's ;)

It does make a differnece but not really with the power mate

I tried it for a little bit and just found tha the car ran alot sweeter and driving properly gave more mpg. At the same time as i tried it i also used redex injector cleaner and that made a huge difference to how the car ran

I use V Power, and no there isn't much of a performance improvement, but there is a very slight one, plus the engine sounds so much smoother that I prefer it.

On longer runs, I've actually had better economy than normal using it too, but I drive mostly around town where economy is the same.

Yeah the engine is just a little smoother and more repsonsive. I think there is a power gain but not much, but you almost make up the extra cost with the extra mpg that it gives you.

I've been noticing better fuel economy with V Power as well :) been using it since mid July.

So I'm guessing that the IS engines are tuned more to 98/100 ron petrol then?

i may be BSing here, but i think that the higher ron petrol allows the engine to advance the ignition (which i think is the basis of VVT-I) more and therefore why it feels better to drive when using 98-100ron.

I use V-Power if its available. I say that as their is no garage around me thats Shell. I do notice the difference even compared to premium Unleaded. Just seems smoother, that little bit more responsive. Don't think it would make a huge difference on a N/A is200 though....

Best advice is to give it say a 3 month trial - after that crunch the numbers, if you're getting significant gains either in performance or economy then the results should speak for themselves. I got slightly better MPG when I tried it but not enough to make it pay for the extra cost of the fuel. I didn't really notice any performance difference though.

I use V-Power the engines feels and runs smoother and I do get a little extra miles per tank.

I run all my cars on V power. I have the Shell Citigroup Mastercard which gives me 3p per £1 discount on V power fuel - every little helps!
