94 Es300 Antenna Out Of Order! Need Help!

Recommended Posts

Hi Everyone:

I drive a 6MT IS200, and I also have an 94 ES300.

Yesterday, the antenna decided to play up. When I switch the radio tuner off, the antenna does NOT go down.

I can still hear the operatiing noise of antenna motor, but the antenna is not moving at all.

What went wrong? Where should I start and how?any special tool required??

Any help will be appreciated!thanks

HI guys:

I removed the boot liner and climbed into the boot , then I detached the motor and the black plastic case for the retracting coil. I found out that the white retracting coil (flexible plastic) has snapped. So it needed to be replaced

I switched on and off the radio tuner during the procedure, then after I placed and secured everything back to original position, I found that the boot light is not working. Also the boot can not be opened from the release "button"(not lever) inside.

The worst thing is the central locking is out of order as well.(remote lock not working and can not lock all doors from driver's door control button)

SO I have made a big mess! ;) :iraqi-info-minister: I hope it's just a fuse which control all of those functions has blown out and I can just simply replace the fuse to fix all the problems(expect antenna).

Anyone has any idea??

Hi It's me again:

I have found out that a fuse has blown out.

For follow ES300 owers: It's a 20amp fuse(mini spade shape) found in the front right corner of ur bonnet. it's "DOME" fuse and it control central locking, rear boot relese button, and rear boot light and rear antenna motor.

After I replaced the fuse, everything is back into order except antenna, I t still have noise from the motor but I dont know how to replace the white coil.

My question is do I have to replace the entire antenna set including the metal antenna pole outside??

On most electric aerials you can remove the top nut and switch the radio on. This will eject the aerial mast and most of the white flex. Unfortunately you may have to remove the aerial and strip the clutch mechanism to remove the rest of the white flex. Once this is done, and you've bought a new mast from the dealer, With the top nut still removed, insert the new flex down into the aerial and switch the radio off. The aerials clutch should catch the flex and pull the new mast down. Once the mast is fully down, put the top nut back on and tighten it down.

Job Done !!!!
