Genuine Battery, Little Green Light ? Out !

Recommended Posts

Still enjoying "wafting" about in this piece of engineering excellence ! BUT ...I fitted a new dealer supplied genuine Toyota branded Panasonic Battery around 3 years ago...but car has struggled a little this winter...alternator is 6 months old...and had it checked out...so only leaves Battery...seems the little light is out...or almost out...there is the faintest green...so is this deffo knackered ?...

Thought it would have lasted longer...

Ironically ...I tried refitting the old Banner Battery that was on the car when I bought it...started right up !...perhaps a moral in this tale ? :shutit:

Hi

If the green light is out it's kaput....

Always fitted Bosch Silver when I've needed to replace one, I have never had one fail and they come with a 4 year waranty.

Do you do lots of short jouneys, they recon it takes over 20 miles to replace what you took from the Battery when you started the car, obviously far more in sub zero temp...

But can you fit a German Battery to a Jap car!!!!!!!

If you dont do long journeys its probably low on charge, cold weather, heated seats, rear screen heater all take their toll.

give it a charge & see how it holds up, the green indicator might come back when the weather gets warmer. It can be a bit pot luck with batterys, some last longer than outhers even if they are the same make. I personally also find bosch silvers to be good.( had one on a Merc oil burner it was 10 years old when it died )

My little green light went to black after I left the car for two weeks and forgot to turn off the smart locking. It has been used for a few long journeys and gets used every day for an hour and it won't go back to green. It is a genuine Toyota Battery but it still starts no problem.

Now I have given myself the kiss of death, I shall have the RAC on speed dial.

Jim.

Hi

I know what you mean but do you really need to spend £150+ on a Battery that far exceeds the needs of the car, they say it has an 8 year service life and they give it a 2 year waranty.....

Maybe the web site is just all hype....

I had a Bosch Silver Battery on my old Off road Range Rover for 10 years, it ran a winch and was abused all the time, it was still going strong when I sold it, it cost £50 and had a 4 year waranty

My brother got an Ultima Battery for his Landrover, he's had it a few years and just noticed last month that the Battery has split and is leaking.... Ultuma's are supposed to be excellent top quality expensive batteries as well....

Anyway any excuse for a photo.....

Playing in Wales....
