Urgent Help With Insurance Needed Please

Recommended Posts

sorry for not replying everyone. havent had a chance to do any more insurance hunting yet but you're all right I think. Everything is against me when it comes to the insurance unfortunatly. I thought that being 25 the insurance may have come down a bit but I thought wrong. With living in the manchester area which is mostly high risk even tho my area is ok I think and not having any ncb behind me isnt helping much either. I'm gonna keep trying as my time is running out and if it aint insured by the end of the month it means I havent got a car to drive as the civic will be off the road then too. The clock really is ticking for me. Hope I get it sorted in time.

Woohoo!!! I just did a quote on the churchill website as my friend told me to try them as he's with them and they quoted me just over £1900 but thats under my postcode then my mate said try under his postcode and it dropped to just over £1500 so then I did it under my gf's postcode and got it for just over £1400. Have just got another quote on moneysupermarket for just over £1000 so looking into that now!

Careful that could/would be viewed as fraud if anything happened outside "your" house for example.

Just out of curiosity has anyone used a company called Allen & Allen? Its a group of companies with mymotorquote being one of their companies but i've been getting very wierd responses from them. Initially I rang up adrian flux and they couldnt get me a good quote but they passed me onto some other company which searched a few others and passed me onto allen & allen, anyway, they rang me back and the guy had the worst attitude problem ever saying that why havent I rung up the company I had got a quote from to confirm the quote and that I was stupid not to ring them when I was awaiting a call back. Eventually I put the phone down on them but a short while later got a phone call from mymotorquote who have been giving me all sorts of weird quotes so has anyone used either company before and what did u think? I didnt really like the sound of them so dont think i'll go for them.

Not a very sensible route to take. We have all been young with no driving record so have had to pay higher premiums. Have you thought what might result if an accident occurred?

1/ You would not be on the electoral role at the address you had given.

2/ Your address would be different on your driving licence.

3/ The address which you have given as yours on the V5 would not match.

These are all things which the insurer can check without reference to you and any one of them could be used as a "get out" by the insurers. All three would also constitute offences in there own right. The upshot would be that anything you did end up paying for your insurance would be a waste of money as you would not really have valid cover. If things are that tight financially you could maybe pay in instalments or increase your voluntary excess?

Good luck finding a satisfactory quote but don't give false information to them....it may well come back to haunt you!

Yup I got a call from Kwik Fit insurance once and though yeh why not I'll give them a try. Thinking brokers they will give me a quote like any other, wrong, they are a call centre that connect you through to some random insurance company/broker and you end up in the normal call queue, though maybe you get a direct line to a person, wrong. And yes you guessed it one was Allen & Allen "specialise in modified and imports" I was told. Effin useless.

Kwik Fit tries again last year and I told them "get me straight though to a person and I will give you one more try". "Yes Sir no problem, we have number of companies that can help", "who are they" I ask?, well the list was the usual list of brokers Adrian Flux ............... and Allen & Allen! "Forget it pal, In can phone them all direct and cut out your commission on the brokers commission on the underwriters quote.

Sorry rant over :D

Anyway there is only one way to get the premium down and that's to take on a higher voluntary excess then be sure that you don't hit anything as you get the bill. You could try TPF&T but probably no good as the risk is the damage that you may cause not the damage to your car.

I understand where you're coming from mate but i'm at the other half's more than i'm at mine so having the insurance under their address I think may not cause a problem as all the insurance actually ever want to know is if the car will be at the address where the insurance is registered and it is.

I've just had my best quote from direct line of £942 fully comp. What does everyone think? Should I go for this?

At least you know they are a good company.

Being old really saves money on insurance mine is £496 F/C with all mods declared, like for like replacement on mods etc. Through SKY insurance.

I'll try admiral today. As for mods, no real mods planned as of yet apart from tints and audio so I think I should be ok tbh. Once I get this year out the way and if I still have the car then I'll make a final decision regarding mods as my initial plan was to just keep the car a year and make some money back on it/break even once I sell it after a year but with the way the economy is going and with prices dropping so much I think I may end up keeping it a while to get my monies worth out of it.

  • 5 months later...

Some T*** crashed into the back of me.

I claimed and Privilege failed to sue the T***. Instead I found the T***s insurance company was claiming against me. Initially, they didn't even give me a claim form. They gave me BS about not being able to find a lawyer. Then I was told I had the right to choose a court. Then I found the court was 200 freakin' miles away and that I'd been refused the court in the town I'd asked for. To this day, I still don't know what the verdict was, but I had to pay my xs. It's obvious they had no intention of even bothering to do the work they'd been paid for.

Privilege, Churchill, Direct Line et al. are part of Royal Bank of Scotland which is now in the crapper.

Fred the Shred is a piece of S***!

Hi Folks,

I've been keeping my eyes peeled for a good IS300 for a while and although I've not got lucky yet, I have been checking how much it would be to insure one. The area that I live in is rated as one of the high risk areas (even though Bury is generally regarded as a "sleepy" town).

I initially tried out Sky Insurance and got a quote for £390 or so (I've got 9 years+ NCB and I'm 43 years old). That was for comprehensive insurance with protected NCB. However, when I rang them again to see if I could insure my current car and then flip the insurance to a lex, if and when I should buy one, they said that the original quote was a mistake and, because I live is a troublesome postcode, I should have been quoted £690. So, it's a good job I didn't go and buy an IS300 on the strength of that quote.

Anyway, as it turns out, I've insured my current car insured with Swiftcover for £340 and the insurance on an IS300 would be about £440, so not much difference. I guess this is down to my being 43 (well there's got to be something good about being middle aged) and having a good track record.

So, as far as I'm concerned, it's Swiftcover all the way for me. Until next year that is (I've learned, through painful experience, that the only thing you get for renewing your insurance is being ripped off).

Cheers,

Mick.
