Aftermarket Stereo

not sure if this has been answered... but im looking to install a aftermarket headunit in my is200.... obviously i'll need to get a amp by-pass lead, as my is200 has a amp.... but what i want to know is there a big drop in sound quality without the amp connected? also is there not a connector out there where you can use the amp with a aftermarket headunit, because im keen to keep it connected!

The OEM amp is pretty weedy, my JVC unit causes the OEM speakers distort at about 1/2 volume, the sound quality is better with an after market HU, and if you look on eBay you will find the amp bypass lead: linky

The lead is fiddly to fit so take your time and ask if you get stuck!!

Yep, don't worry, with a decent aftermarket head unit it will sound better than your stock system with amp.

i had a crap headunit on as i was waiting delivery for my pioneer and i have to say the crap headunit had very bad sound quality and once i got the pioneer i was impressed how good the quality is.

nothing flash - still think it would sound as good as the original which is in there? just want to make sure id get the same about bass as i do currently

also is there anywhere i can double check the cable i need - the numbers 13903 are just above the txt button if that helps

I have one of THESE Looks and sounds great, very powerful, a few on here have them too.

I think there are only 2 leads available, one for the version with the amp, and 1 without.

most headunit will sound better thn the factory headunit mate.

I've got one of those same Pioneer units as Johnboy, and I'm very happy with mine too :D
