Is it not underpowered? With it being a convertable its got that extra weight to carry around. Wouldn't the 3.0 be a better option?

Nice car btw.

i wasnt to bothered which engine i went for really, i did test drive the 3 litre one but the car had alot of miles on it and i couldnt find one in as good as condition as the one i bought.

it will only get used at the weekends for cruising around in so the power wasnt really a consideration

hi,

its a 2.0L engine

Eh ?

Thats weird. Why do they do that ?

A mate of mine has a 318 and says its a 1.9, but I just thought he was being stupid and ignored him

I think i owe him an apology now

No idea, probably to avoid the confusion of changing the name constantly..........also might be cost saving by only having a few engines that are actually different. The 318 and 320 are both 2.0ltrs, and the 325, 330 and 335 are all 3.0ltrs.

  • 2 weeks later...

A long time ago BMW decided to change the codes etc meaning that a 318 was not a 1.8 anymore, but started as a 1.9 (which I think was then upped to a 2.0), the old 323 was a 2.5, the 325 was I think a 2.5 and possibly then upped.

They said it was to relate to the spec of the car, but still kept the SE and sport etc logos, so dunno what they did it for. I wouldn't bet that they still don't give a cassette player as standard fit and you have to pay to get a cd head unit!! haha
