what you think?

Not bad, but I'd rather put in another £35 and get a proper HID kit.

ive heard bad stories about HID kits.. about how they are likely to go wriong and at a cheap price (70ish) for HID kit.. can we really expect it to be reliable or decent :-S

Well there are people on here you have used HID kits on their IS200's for years and they haven't had any problems with the HID kit. Pay your money and take your chances.

The law and the mot work on 2 diffrent sets of rules mate. No reason at all why a set of hids wont pass an mot. The only downside of hids is they send light downwards that bounces up in the headlight and gives a fuzzy top line when checking them on a beam setter (for the mot). I checked mine when i did them they have a lot hotter hot spot but not as crisp a pattern. I believe there is now a new type of bulb which has a shield under the bulb that sorts out the problem that isnt really a problem. They do give of a little glare i just adjudted them down a bit to stop the glare i not had anyone complain.

cool thanx, i ended up getting some hid's from autotronics, only cost me £60. i was contemplating forever which colour temperature to go for and in the end i decided to go for 8k. had em in 4 days now and so far not even been flashed once. but i still feel i need to adjust them downwards a little. is this something that can be done at home or you guys think i should take it to a mot tester to adjust them.

Adjusting the headlights is a simple job. Still probably best to get them done when you have the next mot done, that way the get set properly and even. You can adjust them up and down and left and right. You could just park the car nose in to a wall and set them from the pattern on the wall, but if you get them too low you will just end up setting them back up again to get it through the mot. MOst test stations will probably just set them for you if you just pop in and ask its a 5 minute job that wouldnt charged for at my place

If your going to paint the bulb it will need painting between 5 and 7 oclock on the bulb. That should do it but questionable as to how long the paint will last and what fumes it will give of when the bulbs get hot and what it would do to the bulb.
