Loc Golf Extravaganza! July 2003

Hey LOCers!

How about a Middle England Golf meet. there are a few of us that enjoy a good game and the skill level does not matter. Golf is more than a good walk spoiled, its a chance to get a load of Lexites together and socialise in a "new" environment.

Wherever we play I am sure we can all manage smart cas dress code, collar, shoes, no Jeans or trainers. Just to be assured of the course rules.

Then we can swing away to our hearts content. if we have a few mid morning T offs we could play 9, do lunch and then the back 9 before offski!

Who would be up for some variation of the above?

How about a little Golf club in Oxfordshire (Carswell). I live next door and we could almost certainly host a mini meet before/after/during at my place - I have the room (Loz I'm sure you'll confirm). If that sounds any good I'll negotiate a society rate etc.

Guys, this is a great offer. Having see both the Course and the Home it would be great day out!

You've heard the one about old macdonald having a farm. Well I think he bought it JMRussell who woke up one day and decided to sell off his front Lawn!

I digress.

C'mon chaps, lets make the best of the weather, 18 holes of Oxfordshire's finest while the "less Athletic" among us drool over a fine collection of Automotive excellence!

:whistling: *blowing dust off thread...*

RIGHT! heres the thing. I think a four ball at the fine Oxford(A420 to Swindon) based Golf club would be the best way forward. Lets arrange a date that would work for all those interested? I'm pretty flexiable but what about you chaps?

Week day or Weekend?

JMRUSSELL will let us have prices based on which we chose so let me know asap, thanks.

Looking forward to some 250 yarders with Big Birtha!

Here we go.

Sorry no dates in July but Saturday 9th August tee times from 1pm.

Carswell Golf Club, on the A420 near Faringdon Oxfordshire.

18 hole Stableford. Normal handicaps - if you don't have a formal handicap we'll trust you to tell us where you should be. My golfs about as good as my Karting so I play off 28.

Cost will be about £30 per person including food - either at the club house or adjourn next door to my house.

We need at least 12 to make it work.

?How about revenge and ask TOC?

Ok I admit it that the 9th of August is a no.

Lets make so other suggestions>

Weekday - Thursday 14th August tee times starting at 4pm with a curry afterwards cost would be £23 per person.

Weekend - Saturday 6th September Tee times after 2pm (either we could do lunch before or dinner afterwards) cost £30 per person.

Quick response please.

I'd be up for this on the 6th September.

I have a set of clubs in the cupboard under the stairs. I don't remember which is the business end, and I'm not actually sure what a handicap is (actually I'm really not, so I think "28 doubled" sounds about right). I'm the only one ever to play crazy golf at Woburn.

My Lexus is as bog standard and dull as a 98 satnav GS300 can be (not dull to me cos I love it but I'm no tweaker)

And I'm personally really annoying of course. Other than that I'd be a fine addition to an afternoon prannying about with a lost ball. As long as there isn't commentary along the lines of "In one hundred yards, sharp sand coming up. Then 200 yards LATER slight broken ankle."

6th is better for me too. SO who from the original yes list can make it. come on, a four ball would be just the ticket!

Loz

PS. I have a standard GS300 Mk 2 Also. :whistling:

...and "prannying", not heard that n ages! can't wait to meet the author :zee: :offtopic: :shutit:

OK looks as if we are going for the 6th September.

Don't any of you IS drivers play golf or is it all us sedate ones driving GS's and LS's?

I'll Post a Confirmed list here as they come in - pm everyone first

wicked.

I would suggest lunch before, that way if people are slightly late in arrival it will not effect the tee off.

Anyone suggest a pub near there to meet or do they have food facilities there?

Sorry guys, I am going to have to cry off this one. I hadn't realised thats the Goodwood weekend and am already going to this!

Thought it was later in the month.

Will be up for a game another time though.

The club house does pretty reasonable food at reasonable prices. There are also plenty of pubs around. etc etc - more nearer the time.

Can we have some more takers please - sorry you can't make it Kev.

Cant beleive we a struggling to make a four ball....

Steve, Will you give Monty a call. tell him the club is having a meet and we'd like him to be there to play or just to shake hands. if we are gonna have a Lexus Golf event it makes sense to have Monty along. I was kidding of course when I started this thread but maybe there is something in that. why not see what his availablty is for a more widly attended event.

Come on Steve, look after the minority too, pimpster!

i'll play if there's ever a game  in the south east

We are the South East - or we are some times. Sometimes we're South West and Some times the Midlands!!!

just looked on sat nav 1 hour and 50 mins and with the m25 carpark probably looking at best part of 3 hours.

looking at map i'd say it was nearer to west coast than east?????

Yeah it's the problem we always have in this area. Swindon is usually put in the South West and Oxford normally in the South East. I know what you mean about the M25 I normally work on Gatwick being an hour and a half and Dover 2 hours so long as the M25's flowing but you can sometimes add on hours.
