Has anyone got a surplus rear brake pad fitting kit for MK2 GS300 'S' reg. (shims, pins)Not having any luck with breakers, eBay or motor factors. Multitude of pads from £15 upwards. Lexus Newcastle quoted £40 pads,£35 shims and £30 pins. Thank you. PS. are these common to other models,ie IS or LS

Hi,

Are your shims missing as mine are all stainless steel so a quick clean and regrease and they are good to go with a new set of pads.

Caliper slider pins are around £10.00 each so £30.00 for the set sounds good.

Have you tried PMing ACLex our resident dealer for a price as parts are discounted as well as delivered.

You could try these guys I got the caliper pins rubber seals off them for mine.

There are no slide pins on the back of the mk2 GS (there are on the mk1's though). I would image the retaining pin and shims would be the same as the IS rears, but can't guarantee it. As Steve mentions, are yours missing altogether?

TF & S2006, I had the car in for underneath check and oil change and we decided to skim the front discs which were'nt bad but the results were well worth it and swap the wheels back to front. The rear pads have a bolt through one of the holes and no anti-rattle springs. The rear discs are nearly new(previous owner)and a garage stamp in the book to confirm. I'm not sure if the shims are in or not but if they're available may as well get them and do the job properly. No slide pins on the rear. The fronts were stripped and cleaned and lubed before re-assembly.I've used the same Father/Son business for over 10yrs now with no problems at all. No joy at Biggred, thx for suggestion.

I'll post a picture when the wheels are off.

You are indeed correct :) as they are the same caliper on the 99-00 IS and 99-00 GS ;)

I remember now when I had the 99 GS it was just a single pin that retained the pads, sorry about the duff info,I'll stick to bomb disposal from now on :whistling:

Thx Steve, ACLex said the IS has the same calipers and I came across a picture of an IS caliper on eBay from a breaker and it shows one pin and that had me wondering but now you've cleared up that issue.I'm sure when I had the LS, Benfur supplied rear discs that came off a GS so thats made me think all rear brakes are common. Before you blow anything up go around with a metal detector to see if there's any spare caliper pins. The search continues...Regards. Jim.
