Water Pump Bypass Problem

Recommended Posts

It's less than a week before I pick up my is200 from the dealer..

The most serious thing the RAC check found was "evidence of coolant leak around water pump bypass"

Could anyone fill me in on what this is? Is it serious?

When I go to get the car, how will I check myself that it has been actually sorted out?

Oh and the rear wheels tread's are 3mm, is that acceptable?

Thanks!

I'd ask the dealer to see the job card to fix it. With the tyres that's not much tread for when it's raining, I'd ask them to put new tyres on if they haven't already done it when you pick it up.

I think there are some minimum standards for a used Lexus at the Lexus dealers, maybe somebody knows what it is.

Have you checked the wheels for corrosion? If not check those and any problem they should replace them.

Good luck.

there was a service bulettin issued to all lexus dealers a few years ago about this problem, all it is is a slight build up of a red powder( coolant is red BTW) around the coolant pump bypass tube where it enters the pump body. I had mine fixed but i still get some staining on the pump , but as it is so insifignificant i dont even think about it.
