Removing Rx300 Roof Rails

Recommended Posts

Has anyone here done this? I prefer the look of the newer RX that doesn't include them by default but I have no idea what would be required to remove them, if any parts are required to fill any 'holes' after removal, and if it makes any difference to MPG?

I had this done by the dealer about 8 years ago, long before Lexus thought that the RX's looked better without them. Once they are taken off there are a few rubber strips which need to be bought and inserted into the rails. If memory serves me correctly, it cost about £100. I still have the roof rails in my loft, as there is practically no chance of selling these on their own. When I come to sell or trade in, the new owner can chose to put them back on or not. As far as the MPG goes, I don't really know, but it does not take a rocket scientist to tell you that if you take anything of a exterior of any car which sticks out, it's got to make a difference. Hope this helps.

I would buy them if reasonable price.

You can have them if you like (not sure what you are going to do with them !!), dread to think what shipping cost would be. You could collect if you are near Reading/Wokingham. Make me a offer and they are yours.

Parcelforce will deliver with a signature for £14.50. They are only 4kgs, but its the size and shape (a bit like a pair of skis). So how about £64.50 in total ?

Let me know, thanks.

PS: Sorry, I am not set up to do PM's and don't know how !!
