Battery Capacity

I have a 99 IS200SE manual, can anyone tell me what the standard Battery rating is please

I was after the Amp hour rating, I thought it was a 12V system?

When I got a new Battery for my GS last year the parts department said they don't use amp hour anymore but cold starting performance. I will have a look in the IS manual later to see if it gives a value.

Each lead acid cell is typically around 2.2v.

6 in series therefore gives 13.2v

Alternator regulated at something over 14v.

I know this doesn't answer your question...

but thought i'd chuck it in as trivia anyway :)

all batterys should be now marked with Ah and cold crank markings

which do you need, i think the Battery is a 55Ah.....not sure on cold crank, as i dont have the Battery infront of me here

Just been out and looked in the manual and on the Battery of the 2003 courtesy car - nothing.

I had a look at mine as well and nothing marked up that I can see, 55AH has it for the moment,

its 12V ( zee!) LOL and on my original Battery it says 48AH

or have you got a 1963 VW kafer with 6V electrical circuit???

All the cars today has 12V Battery (if you test it will be more if the Battery is charged and good) only trucks has 24 V electrical circuit!

Its being discussed in the automotive industry that within 10 years, larger cars could be running 48v systems, as the current is more stable and will be capable of running all of the cars components.

infact some BMW's do have a set of batterys under the rear seat for this purpose, and one under the bonnet just to crank the engine over.
