Hi all

I met up with a valeting supplies rep the other day to stock up on some detailing bits and the first thing he said was , do you need any spare parts as I have six ls400s!

I asked why he had so many and he said, I break them and use them for banger racing!!

Then he said no one wants the bits , so he ends up chucking them!!

Needless to say I have compiled a list of parts for him before they up in a skip

I understand his problem, the 1997 I am breaking started well with the engine and transmission going straight away but since then it's been very slow, sold the bonnet to a fellow LOC member after a horse landed on his and a few other bits and bobs but with the reliability and build quality of these cars there is no demand for ECUs or cosmetic bits.

To hear that some LS's end up in "banger races" is heart rendering. Hardly anyone knows how great these cars are to own and drive. I've never driven such a quiet, smooth, comfortable and powerful car. Fabulous.

The guy who did my air con compressor last week said that the electronics on a Lexus are the best he's ever known, of any car! And he's been working on them for years.

Hi Steve

That was exactly what the bloke said to me

He said no one really needs the parts because they don't go wrong, he actually threw a perfect engine away last week!!

They don't use the v8 for banger racing, they have to put a smaller engine in.

Typical, we have a new member looking for a V8 for a conversion project.

Hi Steve, here's a picture of how your old silver bonnet looks on my black '96 after I resprayed it and detailed the rest of the car.
