Brake Callipers

Hi I am thinking about painting my brake callipers. One thing puzzles me though. The callipers already seem to be painted with a clear lacquer. I expected them to be bare metal. Can I paint straight over the lacquer, or do I need to remove it first, and if so any ideas how? :duh:

ive thought about painting mine but i think they will spoil the look ,look a bit tacky to me  ;)

Without painting the calipers will soon start coroding, and then they'll look tacky

I've painted mine silver with black Lexus stickers (purchased from the club) : subtle, and definitely not tacky B)

give them a good old scrub with a wire brush to remove any loose bits and make sure to get all the dust off first B)

Besty, dont go down that route, painted calipers tacky.........dont even get me started on this one.

Its the one single thing you could do to enhance the appearance of th 'IS' is to PAINT your calipers

its so simple, you'll be amazed at the outcome!!!!

Off topic I know. But I was at Lexus Nottingham yesterday having number plates fitted, and in the customers car park was a customised blue Lexus IS with a very distinctive number plate. I have seen a picture of it on the site somewhere.
