Do Is-F Drl Light Cluster Fit On Older Models?

Recommended Posts

I have done a little search and could not find anything so thought I would ask here.

From 2011 onwards Lexus put DRLs on the IS-F's. The model I have is 2010. The questions is, is it possible to buy 2011 Light cluster and plug and play into 2010 model?

you can retro fit yes, but you will loose the AFS feature. Also the AFS fault light will appear on the dash which will be an MOT failure. Was in New York last week and met up with a few ISF owners from ClubLexus who have the DRL, and have retor fitted. The warning light is no issue there as its not tested when they have the US versions of the MOT

AFS light will turn on as the units have been removed. AFS is the headlight steering function so you the lights light up the road when going round corners. I love it to bits and would rather have those than the DRL.

I understand and what you say makes sense. But maybe my simple mind is confused. Surely it is just a software update that is required to make these work as what would have changed between the 2010 and 2011 model?

not a simple software update im afraid. The way the clusters work has changed hardware wise therefore you will will have the AFS light come on. I would seriously leave as is. If you really want DRL's then fit 3rd party ones, but i think those will look tacky on a class car, but everyone has different thoughts.

I agree with the after market DRLs. They would look tacky. It's a shame that they never left a way to fit new lights. I guess I will have to spend my money on something else lol

Change the side lights to LED's and the bulbs for main beams and fogs. That's more worthwhile. After my meet with the guys in NYC I'm itching for an exhaust....

Lol, plenty of other tasty mods you can spend your money on Simon! ;)

Just look through my different threads/mods. :)

The LED/whiter fogs and main beams I did for mine and Roheel's car look sorted mate. :)

Precision LED interior kit and reverse lights is also a really nice touch.

Loving my new LED additional brake light rear bumper reflectors! ;)

Sky's the limit fella! ;)

Come to the Bluewater meet on Bank Holiday Monday.

You can see all the bits I've done so far. :)

Cheers.

Peter
