60K Service At Woodford...anyone Had One Done There?

Recommended Posts

Glad it worked out for you Stu. :)

Hopefully other members will remember to go back to this thread for a copy of my invoice as proof etc.

Still find it odd that they want to move the goal posts all the time though.

If they could maintain a bit of consistency, we would give them plenty of business between us!

Anyway, main thing is you got it for a fair price chap. :)

I got the 60k for £600 at Lexus Stockport but that was last year so not sure now with the fixed pricing structure in place.

Yeah seems to be the way country wide now.

I emailed Lexus Bradford yesterday and this was their response:

In response to your email received yesterday regarding your recent price enquiry for a £60k service on your Lexus ISF. I have opened your attached link to the forum on the Lexus Owners Club website, my Service Advisor Louise was absolutely correct in quoting you as she did for this service at £895 as this is a National Fixed Price operated by all the Lexus Centres throughout the UK. The 60k service is a large service which also includes the replacement of the spark plugs. The only way this service could be discounted down to £600 on your vehicle would be if the plugs were not replaced as per schedule. Obviously we can only advise you of the recommended requirements of the manufacturers but the choice would inevitably be yours. If you require the full 60k service as per the correct service schedule then this will be £895 or alternatively if you wish to not have the spark plugs replaced then I would be able to do the balance for £600.00 inc vat.

So despite me having my plugs replaced as part of the 60K service for £650 (see my invoice on page one), they are now saying Lexus have fixed prices nationwide to make everyone pay more money! :(

As I said before, not impressed with how they are handling this.

Still suggest someone asks their local Toyota garage for a quote.

Convenient they can work together now with prices set high! ;)

So still £100 less than the Lexus Bradford quote!

I guess it's a question of how important the Lexus stamp is in your service books.

I personally don't mind having a stamp from an independent specialist, provided they do as good/better job than Lexus would.

I know for a fact Darren over at Whifbitz in Enfield is more than capable of doing the actual spannering involved.

I dare say the oils and fluids would be better quality as well.

Take my brake discs and pads for example. Got my bodyshop guy/mechanic to swap them over for me. Cost to install was £20! ;)

I guess it could put some buyers off, but anyone who knows cars would surely understand you are paying a premium for the brand!

The parts would all be OEM.

Tough one. :(

That's the point I guess. It's the brand and I think they are trying to hit home that they are a premium brand and with that comes premium prices.

I use Toyota for minor work and Lexus for services. As I'll be selling the car I would want to see all Lexus history so don't want to narrow my buyer options.

Hi Sully, we have checked with our servicing team and £895 is the correct price for a 6 year / 60k mile service on an IS-F. We understand what you're getting at and why you are disappointed hearing others say they paid less, but you have been quoted the correct price. Ultimately our dealers are independently-operated businesses and while they commit to prices on services, they are free to negotiate with and offer discounts to customers as they see fit. We hope that answers your question and that you continue to enjoy your IS-F. Do let us know if we can help with anything else. Lexus UK.

That's the response I got from Lexus UK. So what they are saying is that fixed price is not fixed. Unbelievable.

Interesting. So sounds more like the franchises have agreed within themselves to offer a fixed service price unless it suits them not to??? Nice!

I always thought Lexus were very keen on customer service, however does not look like that's the case here.

Agree, this is an odd one. I always thought that if a customer haggles and gets a good price then fair play, if they don't then thats down to the customer.

Suggesting Lexus have issued something stating they have to have the same pricing when they have received no such instruction is not good to hear. Very odd indeed.

Emailed Lexus Bradford and informed them that fixed price servicing is not fixed but capped so they have now given me a 10% discount. Which brings it down to £805. I guess that's the best I am going to get up north.

Steve, how did you find them as they are my nearest dealers? Bet they don't see many IS-Fs!

Very good. Had no problems with at all. Well, I am on my 8th Lexus with them!

Gino in the service dept is the one to speak to regarding servicing.

ISF is very rare around here. I've never seen another one on the road.

I don't have an ISf but will do sometime in future so following this with interest.. Looking at Petes invoice there is no mention of brake fluid or coolant change being done. Maybe they are not due at 60k but I would have thought they were ? That might explain the lower price. Also wondering if anyone has tried the ' essential care' servicing for those over 5 years old ?

Good spot I believe they are from conversations is I have had. Will let you know what mine includes once I have had it done next month.

Coolant is every 3 years or 40k miles

Brake fluid is every 2 years or 20k miles

So that might explain the cheaper price if they didn't do the brake fluid change which would normally have been due but clearly not since done the month before .

Will definitely make it cheaper. They should be doing full 60k on mine including fluids but will check at the time.
